...and?
(what are you getting at/asking with this thread, in other words?)
if your asking for comments or suggestions, and those parts are options you can afford. go with the GTX 285, if you could afford the 285, why you would even consider the 260 is beyond me.
and why do you have a 1000Watt Power supply, are you planning on running 3 or more video card?
otherwise there's no need for a 1KW unit.
also no mention of the motherboard being used with this?

If you are buying in 2 months, dont bother making a list now. In two months the computer industry can change like crazy.

Well, it generally applies to the industry as a whole but that is indeed the current example . Dont forget the new AM3 CPUs comin out soon (Athlon II and some others).
Also, dont go LG775. You picked one of the fastest LG775 CPUs. That means that you will have absolutely no upgrade path whatsoever since LG775 is a dead socket (because of i7). IMO right now its AMD for low to mid/mid-high range and Intel if you want the best there is in i7. Intel doesnt really have many competitive products now except in the high end (i7), both from the fact that AMD is offering their CPUs dirt cheap and that their low-mid range socket (LG775) is pretty mcuh dead.

well, yeah, but as usual Intel will take most of the attention away from AMD's releases, with the exception for those of us in the know, but for general Consumers though, all they'll probably hear about is Intel, and only find out about AMD until they get to the stores. |

they should of done so in the past with the success of the Athlon XP and Socket 754, 940 and 939 Athlon 64 series.
they'd at least have something to coast down the road on in tougher times, with people "remembering"...
what they really need to do is start investing in well thought out and catchy commercials like Intel has, not just "we're better than brand X because of this" or that, like Apple Does with I'm A Mac, I'm A PC type commercials.
as well as regular marketing in ads, stores, etc etc.
they do ok, with sponsoring events like gaming competitions and other big social type events, but its still not good enough.
now that they own ATI, they could easily do a Two Fold Advertising and Marketing campaign, if thought out well. |
