Need help re-specing some things on my comp.
Hey guys, I bought the aurora 9700 alien ware laptop about two years ago and I need help updating my specs.
Alienware Aurora m9700 specs and Laptop specifications - CNET Reviews
I bought this for 2300 USD but it started to slow down and I've been having some issues with things. First thing I noticed is that my computer only has 67.7 gigs of memory? Idk why no one else that bought this was complaining about it, look: http://i39.tinypic.com/xqb7dv.jpg
So I think I need a new hard drive for that, and some ram to speed up my computer that is managing to lag in WoW...
This is where you guys come in, should I get more Ram and a new harddrive? What kind specifically (I will spend probably 200$ max on the both of them)? And how do I know if I can hook it up to my laptop?Last edited by Iconic1; June 2nd, 2009 at 04:00 PM.

I really do suggest a memory upgrade over hard disk as 512mb is nothing these days boosting that up to 2gb will see massive improvements.

You can get this 2Gb of memory and this hard drive in that $200 budget.

Thanks, aaron I think im going to buy the 1g memory and get that hard drive. Just a round price of 130$. So, let me get this straight, I will have 1512 GB's of memory and 400 GB's of Harddrive space right? If thats the case I think it will be a great improvement. One more quick question are the two easy to install?

What you have now is 2x 256mb making 512 they are in dual channel. You would be better off buying the 2x1gb and selling the 2x256mb. Unless you have an hard disk adapter or something to swapout you can only have one hdd so sell the old one and get some of your money back. Not only is that WD bigger but much much faster.

Yes they are easy to instal. There should be a panel on the bottom for the memory just take old stuff out and put in new. Hard disk you may have to unscrew something on the side which will let the tray slide out. Just unscrew and swap. You may want to clone the drive which will save you reinstalling windows and everything.Last edited by Aaron_8015; June 2nd, 2009 at 07:57 PM.

You're lying. Looks like two completely different people. You need to take a picture of you now wearing the TIMO t-shirt. :p
I should probably buy a new...
