Hi.I want to know about computer cooling.I have Dual Core 3.2 Ghz and Nvidia 9600 GT Graphic Card.So after some time my computer gets heated and the processor fan give loud sounds.I have currently 2 Cooling fans which i can fit in the casing. My powersupply also have two fans.
I want to know that what should i do to prevent my computer from heating and where and in which direction i should fix these cooling fans so they can prevent computer from heating.
Thanks ! |

How hot does your CPU and GPU get ?
I have my case set up that:
front two fans are intake fans
Side fan is exhaust
rear fan is exhaust
and top fan is exhaust
You could maybe think about getting a new CPU fan.. how old is yours ? is it stock?

Naturally heat will rise, why fight it.
Air in through the bottom, out at the top.
Most go with air in the front, out the rear so they don't have the hot exhaust hitting them.
As I just found out with mine, watch for stagnant air pockets! I had a swirl just above my GPU's and below my CPU cooler. I was causing a 10-15C diffrence in air temp. right in that area. Put a fan internal to break it up.
Wire management is also pretty important for good air flow.
My theory, you can never have too many fans!!!!!
11 and counting on mine. And no it really isn't that loud.

And IMO too many fans can actually cause as much of a problem as not enough. I'd rather have a great cooler and a couple good fans than have it be overkill.

true, too many fans can create too much turbulence and non uniform airflow through the case, but depending on where their mounted.
the other issue is balancing the intake and exhaust air flow volumes, with many "breathable" case designs these days its not that much of an issue (cases with mesh front and side/top panels, etc), but for solid panel case designs it can be an issue.
as was said above cable management is also a good thing to look into, tuck cables away out of airflow paths, etc, as these can create air pockets as JJ described above, either where air is stuck, or even turbulence or vortices of warm air that isn't being exhausted. even rounded cables will cause this, so its best to try and bundle excess cables with others and tuck out of the way, etc. but depending on the case, components, etc, it can be difficult and each users PC will be different in general with cable management. some can get a really clean look, others only partially. as they say, "Your Miles May Vary".
But wondering what case does the Original Poster have?
using stock CPU cooler or aftermarket cooler?
which Dual Core CPU is it?
Intel, AMD?
Intel Pentium D, Dual Core, Core 2 Duo, Celeron Dual Core, Xeon?
AMD Athlon 64 X2, X2, BE X2, Opteron, etc etc?
Stock speed? Overclocked?
Brand and Model of Power Supply?
post current CPU, GPU and Chipset Temps if possible, Idle and Full Load temps if possible too.
more details needed to offer more than general advice.

Side of the case is clear. It was funny, I had a 5-10C temp. diffrence within 3 inches.
Should have been more specific, many fans at the right places can control the air very well, most of mine are high cfm but I run them at low speeds=quieter. If needed I can crank them up and make this thing a wind tunnel.
For further clarification, air flow patterns are just as important as flow rate.
I like to use fans where needed, oversize them and then throttle them with a good controler. Flow when needed but quiet for the most part. |

| You forgot the Phenom X2 which you probably put in the "ect" Course you could also count that as a quad core seeing that it has 2 disabled cores on it.

yeah, the Phenom II X2 is relatively new and forgot about it, also since I usually associate the "Phenom" name with X3 and X4 chips, I didn't list that, as I was only listing possible Dual Core Chips as per what the OP mentioned. |

Hi.I am facing a major problem.Dont know what it is.Cooling or Graphic Card ?
My Computer Specifications are:
Intel Pentium D 3.2 Ghz.
80 GB HDD.
1 GB RAM DDR2.
Combo Drive Samsung.
Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT.
No Cooling Fans.
Powersupply with one fan only.
The problem is that when i run any game such as Call of Duty 4,Company of Heroes and The Godfather 2 the computer runs for some time and i can play the game but after 2-3 minutes the computer restarts. When i again play the game the computer restarts again. When i checked the hardware monitoring system just after the restart i noted that :
Processor Fan Speed : 3900
Processor Temp : 88-90 C
Internal Temp : 48-49 C
Remote Temp: 52-53 C
Graphic Card was also very hot
The problem i dont understand is that the computer only restarts when i start the game.If i dont run the game the computer dont restart and keep running.
Actually few days ago i had a 350 W Power supply with 2 Fans but it malfunctioned due to heavy load of the computer and the graphic card as it requires minimum 400 W.It also malfunctioned the supply of the motherboard. But at that time when i had 350 W Power Supply the games ran perfectly with no problems at all.
I repaired the supply of the motherboard and bought a 1 fan 400 W Power Supply. Now i am facing this problem. But note that the computer only restarts when i play the game. When i dont play it runs perfect but the computer gets hot.Again when i run the computer in air conditioner i can play the game for longer time(10 minutes).
I think the problem is with the cooling of my system unit or maybe with the graphic card.Oh Yeah i also removed the graphic card and then played the game company of heroes then the computer didnt restart.I have two cooling fans at the moment but i hae not fixed it in the casing.
I need to know what is the problem with my computer. Please Help !!
This long specifcations are specially for ShyguyPC .But i need advive of all. |
