Modern Warfare 2 key binding
I'm using a PC and playing "Modern Warfare 2". MW2 has some unbound keys that are movements. I would like to permenately bind them so I don't have to push the key board after every movement. Can anyone help ?
Has anyone used an Xbox controller on MW2 , if so how did you install it?
Thanks for the help.

Ummm, if your going to play MW2 on PC, you should use PC controls. "keyboard and mouse" once you get used to it, you wont go back... Trust me....
IF it was a 360 controller, you would be in luck, I am not sure about the xbox controller interface. if it is usb you may be in luck, if not, you may need to go out and buy a dongle for it or make it yourself, I dont play consoles anymore since N64, so I am not too familiar with original xbox. You can make a dongle that will work for the Printer port, at least I have already done it with snes and N64, you will have to research how to do it and be handy with a soldering iron. Nevertheless, Try using KB and Mouse. it really does rock.. I even play Guitar Hero 3 with the keyboard. and I like it better than the guitar... If you want to use controllers and game like a sissy, get an xbox360!!

viester I would probably just about flat out pwn you in any of the games I play and I use a nostromo for ergonomic reasons
, ie I have big hands an don't like scrawny keyboards or necks.
Waraddict, I have gamed for a long time and use many macros and keybinds and have zero clue what the hell your asking in your post. Clarify?

Thats very interesting DK, what exactly does "pwn" mean... I know that is not a challenge... is it? I have seen those Norstromo things, they are pretty neat... But I like default bindings...

Default bindings while chivalrous and agreeable will get you flat dominated in certain games.
Honestly Viester the edge one gets from keybinds, macros and hotkeys is without debate. I just wish punkbuster and vac would see it that way. Pure client for the win! Hitting any combination of keys in under an inhuman time gets you kicked in pure and other tournament style anti-cheats.
For the record I feel that all macros and keybinds are cheats along with editing a config file which are all standard and accepted practices. While I do not find any particular keybinds or macros useful (have not really tried) in MW2 editing your config is huge and here is an idea of what you can do with a simple macro:
Autohotkey Macros
I have never tried an AHK aimbot but know it is workable in some games by concept which is why newer games have randomized player skins so these do not work. Unfortunately they do allow custom skins which is pure crap as this would allow you to match that head shot color to a mouse event coordinate quite easily.
In short game companies are evil retards that have themselves encouraged cheating by selling cd keys cheaper and cheaper as the game ages as opposed to globally banning people by hardware which was quite easy, a real deterrent and hated by the hacking elite who quickly lost their test group (unsuspecting public cheat users).
I have personally scripted and used anti-recoil and rapid fire scripts in BF2 and while effective still prefer the real feel of the weapon.
As a punkbusted and server admin for years I can assure you that I have heard every thin pathetic excuse and IMO, "cheaters never win and winners never cheat!"
"My brother must have downloaded the hacks"
"My account was hijacked" by a cheatsite public hack. Clue, your antivirus detects a keylogger or trojan for a reason
My personal favorite from adult clan mates banned and trying to actually reason being a punk, "With work and family I just do not have the time to devote like these kids today."
Like the Marine Corp slogan states, "Respect is Earned and never given." Same with game achievements. Games were designed to be fun and cheating diminishes this.
Keybinds, Macros and hotkeying are not currently considered cheating Waraddict so point me in the direction you want to go and possibly I can help you?

Lmao. DK, I am under the impression that what waraddict is trying to accomplish is much simpler than what you just spent half your day typing about. Hell. you lost me, the only game I play online is RTCW, and I dont even play that much anymore.. He was talking about movement keys and what not.. and controllers. What is the interface like on original xbox anyway? I am under the impression that he dont want to play the game on the kb. or he wants to specialize the kb for his own preferences..

I assumed you actually understood pc gaming Viester.
So if you have little to no experience in Modern Warfare 2 or pc gaming in general why respond to the guy like he is a nub for wanting to use a controller on the pc?
I will answer Waraddict when he specifically states what he wants to do and not assume.
FYI, I did not spend much time typing the post. I went afk while still logged into the forums and went to the store and purchased my new uber sweet gaming mouse that enables me to have an adjustable on the fly dpi in BattleField Bad Company 2 since the screwed the general mouse sensitivity up compared to Battlefield 2. Nothing like the slow turret getting you pwned

hehe, well, I actually have played all of the CODs straight through.. as well as all of the half lifes. and many other popular games out there...I just dont play online...No wonder I dont know what this pwning crap it all about... though I used to run Mafia with gamepad keyboard and mouse. Modern Warfare 2 is actually a favorite of mine... But, Had Waraddict actually mentioned online play, I would have left the issue alone. I have many controllers for PC. USB, as well as console controllers that I modified for PC. But for FPS. I like KB and mouse... But, I would honestly hope waraddict would return here to clarify... BTW, how are those Claw controllers for FPS's?
also, this is kind of funny... lmao

Lmao, mildly entertained by above video link. Yes something like that I guess. I never got to the bottom of what p added to owned really meant but went with the flow like tbaggin' peeps who ran their mouths in the BF series. An eInsult if you will.
Claw controller, to each their pwn I guess. I am 38 and have worked my ass off my whole life except the last year. I suppose ergonomics are really important to me so I can play without pain for extended periods. I specifically like the hump in the middle of the nostromo to rest the balls of your knuckles on and the fact that the keys are either marginally larger or spread out more. Easier on those of us who got their growing out of the way. Downside is certain games require creative key mapping.
FYI, I am glad you are entertained. It is all we have in this world and what pc gaming is about, amusement. Sometimes I get a wee serious about cheaters or those who try to force their opinions down others throats is all.
FYI, I am going to start a MW2 Tweak thread since the op went awol.

Try this. I use it to automate the words, "pwned you!"

MacroMaker - Download
AutoHotkey - Free Mouse and Keyboard Macro Program with Hotkeys and AutoText is another I used in COD4 I have a script that will make all guns full auto.
Code:#SingleInstance gActivateScript = 0 ; Insert to activate the macro ~Insert:: KeyWait, Insert GetKeyState, InsertState, Insert, T If InsertState = D { gActivateScript = 1 } else { gActivateScript = 0 } return ; CTRL + SHIFT + LBUTTON to activate the macro ~+^LButton:: If gActivateScript = 0 { gActivateScript = 1 } else { gActivateScript = 0 } return ;Also applies to burst weapons. ie click and hold will perform like a full auto firing mode ~LButton:: Goto, DoFiringLoop Return ;When crouching and firing at the same time. Using Ctrl as crouch button ~^LButton:: Goto, DoFiringLoop Return DoFiringLoop: if gActivateScript = 1 { Loop { ;Make sure Cod4 window is the active window. Don't want weird mouse behaviour appearing at other window IfWinActive, Call of Duty 4 { MouseClick, left,,, 1, 0, D ;delay between simu. mouse btn down and up Sleep, 40 MouseClick, left,,, 1, 0, U GetKeyState, LButtonState, LButton, P If LButtonState = U { ;break the loop if physical state of mouse btn is up. break } ;delay between each simu. click events Sleep, 10 } else { break } } } exit return
Save the text to notepad and save with the extension . ahk
So you should name it like COD4 fullauto.ahk
When autohotkey is installed you simply double click the script to run and it will wait for the trigger which is the insert key.Last edited by Taxmancometh; March 8th, 2010 at 03:22 PM.

Here is an Ak101 No recoil for BF2, note you need to tweak these for your setup and connection

Everyone essentially has its own variation. The best I saw was tweaking that Dragonuv in BF2 at least.Code:;;;;;; ;; Autofire + Aim Correction ;;;;;; ;; ;; Pressing the left mouse button causes an "automatic fire effect" ;; to happen by sending mouse up/down events at regular intervals ;; Also, correction to recoil deviation is done during that interval by ;; lowering the gun a bit. ;; ;; This is good for semi-automatic guns, i.e. pistols and M16. ;; ;; Works well with automatic guns too. Play with the intervals for ;; holding down fire while on a machine gun to prevent overheating. ;; ;; Usage: ;; - In game, press left mouse button for automatic fire ;; - Press 'p' key to enable/disable automatic fire ;; - Press 'insert' key to suspend the script ;;;;;; #NoEnv SendMode Input _auto := true ~LButton::autofire() ~^LButton::autofire() p::_auto := ! _auto ] Code: insert::suspend autofire() { global _auto if _auto { Loop { if GetKeyState("LButton", "P") { SendInput {LButton DownTemp} Sleep 85 mouseXY(0, 10) SendInput {LButton Up} Sleep 45 } else break } ;; loop } ;; if } ;; autofire() mouseXY(x,y) { DllCall("mouse_event",uint,1,int,x,int,y,uint,0,int,0) } ;;;;;; ;;; End script
Let me know what cool variations you come up with. I quit key binding sayings. I find the game much more pleasurable turning text chat off or limiting it

Kool, kool! I'll check this out. Thanks!

Waraddict, something else that just crossed my mind. A controller usually comes with software that can have key binding ability. My Logitech controller has this ability, and I did try to use it with COD4. A lot of tweaking with the key assignments and in the game settings is in order for the controller to work. But alas, no controller will help you beat someone who spends his life playing COD. I find the mouse and keyboard are faster. Good luck.
