Missing Fans for CPU cooler, and some quality Thermal paste, with so many options of the latter on that site, figured leave it up to you. MX-3, Shin Etsu, OCZ Freeze, etc.

Wasn't sure on speakers, and what you had, but that sound card is supposed to be really good with Headsets, and the headset I linked, I had read is a pretty good rock solid 5.1 Gaming set. Just wish they sold that brand over in the states, or at least easily find it around, I think Performance PC's is one of the few US sites that sells them.

I'm surprised you'd suggest spending so much on audio...
    Why?
the Antec 600 is almost "HAF" the price
or the 300 if windows dont matter
Blue Ray? dont need that for gaming...
I'm assuming your just maxing the budget?

Couple with the Headset (Supposed to be a really good 5.1 Gaming headset) with the sound card... the sound card has amplifier for headsets.

BIG Case, plenty of room for upgrades, additions later. also the fact there is a Radeon 5970 in that list, plenty of room, along with the size of the CPU cooler, not sure how wide the Antec cases are, but you'll need to have a very wide case for that cooler.

was originally going to go with the HAF 922, but then saw the 932, figured couldn't hurt with a bit more room. with 230mm intake fans, case should be wide enough too.

case is completely up to end user, and the list is just an example, obviously things can be added/deleted, etc.

The Bluray drive is a combo BD/DVD drive, so its dual purpose, figured incase they wanted to watch a BD movie or something on it, with the 24" display.

if I were spending the money, this is an example of what I would get for a gaming rig, (well I'd be looking at a Socket 1366 platform and Quad core), I'm also Partial to Coolermasters cases as well, nothing against Antec, their good too. its usually a toss up between CM, Antec and Thermaltake when it comes to cases for me.

Why confine all that hardware in an Antec 300 case, its a smallish midsize case, that 5970 is a LOOOOONG card, coupled with that CPU cooler, 3 hard drives, 2 Optical drives, and whatever else, its going to be a tight fit, if the GPU will even fit in it.

I wouldnt be looking at anything from AMD with a budget like that...
SLI is a poor choice as well
The 5970 is head and shoulders above that paired 5850!
    Does that SSD support trim?
    what controller does it use?

6 core is way overkill. A little over a year ago is when a very very few games started using multicore cpus, otherwise most games still use only 1 core.
And with a budget like yours, I would get an Intel I7. And all my computer builds are AMD.
I've noticed that Intel built systems boot quicker and load games and programs quicker.
If you want a quicker running system, Shyguy did give you a really good build list.
    I'd add this for cooling.
Corsair Hydro Series H50 CPU Cooler [CWCH50-1] - $129.00 : PC Case Gear
Its Corsair's H50 cpu water cooler. It works really good on my AMD 550 X2. Idle temp on mine is 29c. At max cpu, its 40c. Your case would have to be able to mount a 120mm fan for this to work.

and an xfx card for graphics maybe
and GB ud9 mobo i know it might be pushing a budget but im an aussie to and compare to some otger places it,s gold!!!

    um, why a 980x?

if this is a gaming rig, the 2 extra cores right now are a total waste, and I don't see how its "sooooooooo worth the premium"

do you have any idea how much those cost, buy one and you have sooooooo much less left over for the rest of the build. @ 1500 AUD... forget it, with a budget of 3500 there's no way he'd have enough left over for the rest of the system, he'd have a partially barely function PC in the end.

if budget was unlimited, sure, grab a 980x, and a more premium price XFX, as well as a more expensive Gigabyte Mobo... but seriously, there is a budget to adhere to.

    i7 980x = $1500

    Gigabyte UD9 mobo = $650 (pre-order)

    XFX 5970 GPU = $850

thats $3000 of the $3500 budget...

lets see what else is needed...

    RAM

    HDD

    Optical Drive

    Case

    PSU

    OS

    Headset

    Keyboard

    LCD Display

And this is a bare minimum configuration as far as components go.

if they wanted some more options like Dual Optical Drives, multiple hard drives, Aftermarket CPU cooler for Overclocking, Sound card for better audio with headset, etc

so yeah, with the parts your suggesting, this members desired build will be impossible to meet with their budget they posted.
