New i7 875k build
So i just won an i7 875k from newegg off of a facebook promotion and im looking to build a new rig around it. Not looking to spend an enormous amount of money but ill spend around 800$.
What i need:
-Mobo (compatible for 2 gpu's if i want to upgrade in future)
-Ram (4-6 gigs)
-good AM cooler
-possibly a new gpu (i have a gtx 260 right now should i upgrade? is it worth it ?)
-if i get a new gpu might need a new power supply i have a Corsair tx650w right now.
don't really need anything other than those, i might be on the hunt for a good air flow case that's on sale (i have an antec 300 now) so if anyone sees any good deals let me know.
note: if you can follow the budget please do. If adding a good gpu that can later possibly be ran in SLI with another one later please post what you think is best even if its over the budget. How expensive would water cooling be ?
-Thanks for the helpLast edited by Wolfegang16; June 20th, 2010 at 12:26 AM.

I put this together still give me your builds you would choose and your criticism on this one, i used alot of combo purchases:
Mobo:
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
GPU:
Newegg.com - EVGA 012-P3-1470-AR GeForce GTX 470 (Fermi) 1280MB 320-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card
Case and HD (combo HD comes out to be free):
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
Ram and PSU (combo) :
Newegg.com - Computer Parts, PC Components, Laptop Computers, LED LCD TV, Digital Cameras and more!
that all comes out to be 916$ (thats with saving 219.99$ with sale and combo purchases)

PSU you have now should be fine for almost anything other than the Most top end cards.
for a new GPU though My money would be on a Radeon 5850, its enough of a jump up from your GTX 260 to make it worth it, and those 5830's aren't really THAT much better, they are, but for the $200 price, might as well spend another $100 and get a real noticeable better card.
if your wanting SLI over Crossfire, then maybe look into a GTX 465, performance doesn't look like its that much less than the 5850, and hangs around the same price range.
though its been a few weeks since I've looked at any benchmarks, so no idea of drivers updates have changed any of this for either company.
as to the other parts I'll let someone else comment on that.
have a question though, what do you mean by GOOD AM Cooler? the AM part?i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

hold your horses Im looking at benchmarks

Ok it seems to me that the 465 is just under the 5830 in overall performance and i can't find benchmarks with a 465 in SLI so I can't help you there. So I would take the 5830 over the 465 just because last time I check the 5830 was cheaper by about $50 before rebates. SSSSSSSooooooo I'd go with a 5850.
