    transplant guts into new case??

ok, so here is what i got...
HP Pavilion Slimline s3320f Desktop PC
with the 4G RAM instead of the 2G.

went and got one of these XFX Radeon HD 5770

and these Rocketfish™ - 500-Watt ATX CPU Power Supply

and this case Thermaltake Soprano RS 101 VG7000BWS Steel ATX High Ventilation Window Case

so i want to move the guts out of the HP slimline minus power supply and video card and put it all in the new case.

    how difficult will this be?

That motherboard is an ASUS M2N61-AR, which is a mini-itx form factor. If that will go in that case, it shouldn't be too difficult. Maybe some of the more knowledgeable members can guide you.

    Good luck

not with 2 Expansion slots it isn't, Mini ITX only has enough room for 1 Expansion slot, that thing has a PCI and PCIE slot.

its probably some hybrid of Micro ATX or Flex ATX, as long as it has standard ATX style mounting holes (being the board is so small, should only be 3 or 4 holes), it should fit in that case.

it exceeds Mini ITX specs by about an inch or so in one of the dimensions.

but looking up the specs for that Mobo, it looks like its standard ATX mounting holes, and should fit in the case, you'll have PLENTY of Room mounting that stuff in the case, the Video card isn't THAT big, but will be larger than the motherboard...

for reference, here's a Reference Design Radeon 4870 in a Zotac Mini ITX motherboard, using a x1 to x16 Riser card.

The Radeon 4870 is close to the same size as the newer Radeon 5770, maybe a tad longer, the one you linked to in your post.

so gives you some idea of how much larger the card is compared to the board, it's ass end will be hanging out beyond the edge of the board, and you'll lose the use of the PCI slot, since the card your choosing is a dual slot card. Also you'll want to wire up the Front Panel wires from the case first, to the motherboard, since the video card WILL be covering that up once mounted.

but as to room in the case to fit the stuff, you'll have plenty of room.

and should be easy to manuever and connect things, etc.

as to the Power Supply, not too sure about Best buy's Rocket Fish brand.

Some of their items are good, like Cases, which are rebranded under rocket fish and are actually well known brands, like Antec, Thermaltake, Lian Li, etc, but as to their Power Supplies, I'm not sure of. Maybe JP Miller knows more than me on those, but if it were me, and I wasn't sure, I'd go with another brand, well known brand.

Crap!!! 80 bucks for that? HELL NO!!!

Ok, your going to need to start learning to use Newegg and some of the other PC parts Online Retailer Sites...

    500W PSU, quality brand...

    Newegg.com - OCZ StealthXStream OCZ500SXS 500W ATX12V / EPS12V Active PFC Power Supply

Even this 380W unit will run your entire system with the Video card your choosing

    Newegg.com - Antec EarthWatts Green EA-380D Green 380W Continuous power ATX12V v2.3 / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply

if you want a tad more power, at 400W, then this one is good too

    Newegg.com - SILVERSTONE ST40F-ES 400W ATX 12V 2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply

but here's the best Deal on newegg, and its regular price range

    Newegg.com - COOLER MASTER Elite 460 RS-460-PSAR-J3 460W ATX12V V2.31 Power Supply

460W PSU, good name, good unit, $30, has enough power for your entire PC.

Also your own Google link shows Newegg has the best price on the video card as well

    Newegg.com - XFX HD-577X-ZNFC Radeon HD 5770 1GB 128-bit DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

might as well order it all together.

The Thermaltake case, costs $70 on Newegg, but its $20 in shipping, so not the best deal out there, but looks like most other sites are asking $20-30 in shipping.

I'd also check out the Thermaltake Store, since sometimes they have Free Shipping deals on Their Refurbished and Discontinued Model cases

    Thermaltake Store

Might as well check out Coolermasters store as well, they usually have some deep deep discounts on Cases, Refurbished ones, sometimes price of case is less than the cost to ship it, resulting in total price for case + Shipping being the same or less than Retail price for the case alone.

    CM Store

looks like Directron.com has a pretty good price on that case, not sure the shipping costs, but its $10 less than newegg, and $20 less than the link in your post...

Edit: Wait, I just reread your post... you already ordered these items? or your Going to? if you already ordered them, why are you asking if there will be issues with transplanting the stuff, shouldn't this have been asked BEFORE buying the parts if you already did?

if you already bought the parts too, I hope that Rocket Fish PSU is a rebadge of a Quality brand name, otherwise if its el cheapo, it has a much Greater potential of taking out your entire PC, if it fails.

for $80 for a piddly 500W PSU it better damn well be a good quality unit, but with Best Buy, and some other retailers and their In house brand names, you never know (Tigerdirect and its Ultra Brand, Newegg and its Rosewill Brand, etc)

A few things to add on the "transplant".

makes sure the backplate lines up well with the mobo and case.

didn't take a close look at the existing one, but any optical drives may not fit just right.
as in if the old case has a cover on the optical drive(s), it may not work on the new case, so you might have a bare face, but it should still be usable, as the tray button will still be there.

also, pay attention to the power and led connectors on the old board, so that you know which way to connect the new case wires for power, etc..
If the existing mobo isn't clearly marked, trace each connector and mark it so you have them right in the new case.

other than that, ShyguyXPC pretty much covered it.

See I told you someone more knowlegeable could help.
I just googled the motherboard and found these specs, which said the form factor was mini-itx.

Pretty cool how you can add a motherboard to that card.

I mean just look at the size of that card versus the motherboard, they need to make it to start mounting video cards the case and then attach a motherboard to it, or some better bracketing systems.

the 2 Mini ITX cases I have won't fit that card, one only supports single width cards up to 7 or 8 inches in length, the other can support dual width with some modifications to the hard drive Caddy, but can't support cards of 8 inches in length if the PCIE power connector is at the back of the card.

one is an Apex Case with a 250W PSU, the other is a Lian LI PC-Q07 case with a 500W Modular OCZ PSU in it, Lian Li has a newer version of the case I have, that Does Allow up to I think 9 inch length cards and dual width, as well as supports 120mm fans, for Mini ITX cases.

I just wish I had spent a bit extra on the PCIE x16 slot model board, the Startech PCIE x1 to x16 Adapters are nice, but they add an extra Inch of mounting height, and even with a low profile card and bracket, doesn't line up right, tend to be about a half inch higher mounting height for cards to screw into bracket.

of course after I bought the adapter for 50% off from their site, they released a new version thats the right height for my needs, at almost 2 times what I paid LOL...

I might yet still put that x1 slot board in the Apex Case, and Just run the Onboard Geforce 7025/7050 Graphics chip. not really sure yet.

but I mounted that 4870 on the board, just for sh*ts and Giggles to see how it looked, sort of like the 9800GTX on the micro ATX Board.

if I had that new Lian Li PC-Q08 case, Lian Li PC-Q08 , then I could actually use that 9800GTX in a Mini ITX system LOL.

though would probably stick one of my 2 9600GSO's in it instead.
