I like the format you used for your previous system stats....would be nice to have that for everyone that posts that on the forum....

the new system you are building....what is the purpose of it? That's really the only way we could truly gauge the build.this post contains small bits of intelligence culminating to the appearance of wisdom.

The purpose is a high performance gaming computer that doesn't go overkill.
Same reason I don't want to spend more than around 500$ on a graphics card(s) or buying the 980x
Thanks

Gotta love the specs list from OCN.

Looks like a good solid build can't fault it.

I'm confused. A cost effective, high budget build? If you really want cost effective, bang for your buck gaming computer why wouldn't you consider AMD parts? The 580 is sexy but you said you didnt want overkill and that screams it. Your choice of memory sticks also seems slightly high also tho they are a good product.
It fails at cost effective but will rock any game for sure.
Edit* if your dead set on Intel, wait for sandy bridge. It won't fit your old mobo and it's cost is reasonable.Last edited by Justinjwl; January 13th, 2011 at 04:28 PM.

Might as well just go with the current 1155 Sandy Bridge quads that are out now, if their only going to be running a single GPU.
otherwise Dual or more GPU's then Current 1366 is plenty fine, or if they want to wait for Socket 2011, thats been rumored for release all over the board from 2nd quarter this year, to 3rd or 4th Quarter of this year. Last I heard was later this year with PCIe 3.0 release.
If it were me, I'd just hold on to the current build and upgrade the GPU now, as the rest of the specs are still near top end or at least upper midrange.
if the PSU is still stable then keep it, or just upgrade that if they can afford it, depending on what their intentions are later in the year, dual or triple GPU's?
Along with the GPU upgrade, throw in the SSD now, Display Upgrade, and new Optical drive, and everything else would be fine. (Maybe add in the Corsair H70).
but the AMD Phenom II X4 is still plenty fast for a top end gaming rig these days, as is the DDR3 in Dual channeli7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green
