    Upgrading E7500 to i5?

My Intel E7500 has been dragging down my performance on recent game titles. I'm wondering whether a Corsair CX 430w (28A +12V) would be enough to support a good i5 sandybridge processor, along with a decent motherboard and good graphics card.

    Thanks.

Depends on what you mean by "good". Will the psu support a GTX580, no. But you should be able to get up to a GTX560ti and have the psu still handle the load. Newegg recenly had a deal on the 500w Corsairs for a pretty good price. Newegg.com - CORSAIR Builder Series CX500 V2 500W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS Certified Active PFC Power Supply
    $39.99 after rebate, 34A +12V.

Just out of curiosity, and before you jump into a full upgrade, what are the rest of the specs on the system you are running now and what games are you running?

edit: Is this related to your previous thread What GPU did you actually put in there? If all you are doing is swapping in a new board and CPU and keeping the new GPU you just bought you could probably get by with your current PSU. But if you are going to get rid of that new GPU and opt for a full blown new build you'll want to upgrade it.

Ok thanks, I may consider a new PSU down the line then. My other specs are:

    ATI Radeon 7750 1GB
    5GB DDR2 RAM

I'm trying to run Skyrim. With lowest possible resolution and settings the CPU idles at a ridiculous 90%, causing massive fps dips. This contradicts the minimum specs needed against my CPU, and I have also found other users are running it just fine on dual cores. Done all the tweaks, driver updates, and it still remains a mystery.

EDIT: My motherboard supports dual channel and my configuration for the 4 slots is as follows: 3x1GB, 1x2GB. Would that be an issue at all?
