| Nookin Pa Nub...in the form of a custom case
Well, I just recently thought of designing a custom case...but finding one out there already is more my cup of tea, as I have next to no free time on my hands for the next 50 weeks.
What I need is a case that is about the size of a VCR (a bit larger, actually, to accomodate ATX form factor). What I need is for everything but the power cord to be in the front. Anyone seen such a monster? Oh, a smaller version without expansion slots would be nice, too.
I need a few for some 'prototype' systems. |

Darn, a custom case...already made....
Hey! Maybe you could take that old VCR and open up one end of it, let the thing breathe by cutting some holes and sticking fans in, etc.
I know you SAID you won't have the time, but....heck, how much sleep do you REALLY need? |

Sleep, what is this sleep you speak of! Yes...what an odd request, eh? A custom case that has been prefabbed...oxy moron is the word. But I bet there's something out there, as I find it hard to believe I am the only one with the intentions of what I plan to do with it...
Actually, to make it perfect, a custom motherboard would be nice as well...but I don't own a company...so getting such a project going may be impossible (with capitol being the missing ingredient)...perhaps I could pitch the idea to someone...
Nah...too much work...I'll just have to make a few for my own personal use |

Forget colorcases. I just checked their resellerrating and they look horrible. Directron looks pretty good with an 8+ rating. I have ordered from directron before and am impressed. Couldn't find Lovermecases resellerrating. |

Yes...a bookshelf case...is the micro ATX the smallest PC form factor out right now? It needs to be small, as there isn't going to be a whole lot of junk in the thing. Just some good bare minimum parts.
Another question, though it may not be answered in this forum: why aren't they're any quarter height optical drive bays out there (or are there?)? I mean, who needs these big bulky readers? I doubt even the writers need to be so tall!
A bookshelf case, with a flip-side form-factor, .25height CDBay & Combo Drive (CDR&DVDROM), and the only things that will be showing will be the MoBo inputs (USB, RJ45, no PS2, Serial, Parallel, Sound...). What I would like, though, is a way to get the AGP card to actually point it's outputs towards the back, even though the rest of the mobo points forwards...hmmm...how can I do this? I'd hate to have wires coming from the front for that part, as the Mobo stuff is going to hard enough to make look pretty. Perhaps I could design a convex face plate for the expansion slots...yes, that would work and be relatively easy. I could even have it removable incase someone gets a little more professional with the unit and needs open access to the area... |

Well, no luck in the case department.
But I've found many a goodies that may even be better. Some nice bay devices that will be like an extension cord for all me hookups! I think that's the direction I will go...still lookin' round, though. Better not look too long, or some other local may start the fad before I do (the PC's I'm aiming to sell). |
