Let's see...
...you have your LianLi (or other brand) aluminum case...
...got a wicked looking window in the side cover...
...ultraviolet (black light) cold cathode installed...
...rheobus with lights for controlling the fans...
...the fans!
How about a radical looking ALUMINUM CASE FAN for that setup?
Good price too! I'm thinking that these are on my list for the new system... |

Are you talking about my PC? It sounds just like it! I've been seeing those fans around quite a bit lately. I think they even have them at CompUSA. |

Ya I have used these a while ago, they are nice but IMO they arnt perfect I didnt care for the painted chrome fan blades but its not like they are going to really use metal so painted is fine. Also screwing them to your case is kinda tricky since its metal and either you have to drill a bigger hole or bolt it on with some small nuts and bolts. I really wish it had a brushed alum finish but it dosnt. I still like them though. |

Yeah, it weighs about 5lbs too.
But it's surprisingly quiet. I need to find a use for it, and build an enclosure for it.
Those aluminum blades are sharp though, they'll take a finger off.
It's from an old oscilloscope, real OLD. The unit was actually a bit smaller in volume than our standard size modern computer cases. But it was cram packed with vacuum tubes and all kinds of heat producing gizmos so I can understand why it needed such a huge powerful fan.
The oscilloscope was scavenged by a friend of mine from his neighbor's dumpster. My buddy owns a custom cabinet shop and nightly when he walks his dog he also checks to make sure the other local businesses aren't throwing away any good stuff. Quite often they are. When he came back with that scope the first thing I said was, "What are you going to do with that?" He said he was going to tear it apart and keep anything from the guts that might be useful. And just slightly before he even finished his sentence I said, "Can I have that fan?" |
