Redirected headset connection??

My plan is to be able to have my 5.1 speakers connected to the sound card at the rear of the case... but also have the convenient option of connecting my headset to the front of the case??

Just wondering if it's possible to make an extra connection, and run some jack sockets thru to the front of the case?? I'm hoping to be able to leave my speakers plugged in, but switch off their external power when I want to use a headset?

I'm not afraid to try out a DIY mod, but don't want to risk overloading any curcuits on the sound card.

Any advice??

id say just get some "Y" adapters (make sure you get the correct stereo / mono adapter depending on your headset, they should be easily available at your local radio shack or walmart) and plug them into the soundcard and then run extension cables either thru the case or just around to the front of the case allowing you to hook both your speakers and headset into it...

Thanks for the advice - I'll check my soundcard then ask some more advice in my local Maplin store over the weekend...

(...I'm in the UK and don't have a Radio Shack or Wal-Mart near me)
