Amazing Blowhole
I cut a blowhole into the top of my case and attached an 80mm fan ( on the inside of the blowhole ) temps dropped about 5-7C.
Now its getting hot outside, today is in the 80F and verey very humid, so I decided to take off the case side panel, booted up and ran some apps and cpu temp was 49C, room temp 78F
I cursed, then I put the side panel back on, and low and behold, the cpu and case temp dropped 5C blowhole is doing it's job
ANyone else with some positive blowhole results???
one 80mm intake
one 80mm out take
one 80mm blowhole
both side panels came with ventilation holes in them

Hey man post a pic of the blowhole!

We wanna see!
Most side panels do... keeps air pressure more even if you have a less than optimal airflow ratio.
If you have good airflow in the case then it is ALWAYS better to keep sides on.....sides off only helps if you have bad airflow or are directing a fan or something toward the open side.

If you think THAT helped your airflow wait till you can open it up with a dremel!

If ya open it all the way up, ya might get an additional 5-7 degrees
The impossible takes more time, and costs more money.

Yeah I don't think much air can get through those small holes, I bet the fan is hurting. It'll be sweet when you get it opened all the way!

oh btw you may have noticed one of the cd drive doors open, I filed, the used double sided tape to put a cover over the cd door.
I put an extra piece of tape over the eject button, so all I have to do is press lightly on the right hand side and wal-la it opens
a dremel with the sanding attchment will even that baby out
I posted that mod somewhere before, you may have seen it

the drives are back as far as they will go, the covers I used are not the original ones
but with a little filing I think I can make them look better, I have no idea where the original ones are, or if they're even in the house
How are trophy? you still Da Man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made a blowhole like that by drilling series of holes and used a fan out of the broken power supply. It was a duron case and I put in an xp1700 palo. It was a very poor case for cooling but the blowhole dropped the temps down from 68c to about 56c. Then I bought a volcano 9 but it wouldn't fit because of the power supply. I took the fan off and put my volcano 8 fan on it. I took the side panel to a friend's shop and used a dremel to cut a hole and put the v9 fan on it with the controller. It got the temps down to 49-50c which I feel pretty good about it. I did all that because I'm too broke to buy a decent case.

I'm feeling you, WJU425, every payday, the bills must be paid.
I want a dremel so bad, $65+tax shouldn't be a problem but it is.
I want it for more than just modding, it's a really handy tool to have

Maybe you could attach a fan to a dremel... 35,000 RPM

I've used blowholes with great success. I like to use bottom and side intakes with power supply and top blowhole outputs. That way everything stays cool.
It's just a little hard to keep the noise down with so many fans...

LOL prex. The v9 fan is loud and that's why I put the controller on it so it's about half speed. At full speed the temps really went down.
