    Smile PSU Advice

Hi, i was wondering what psu to use for my future setup which is arriving tomorrow:

    Microstar K7N2 Delta-IL Socket A Motherboard
    128Mb GeForce FX5200 AGP8x Graphics Card
    512mb pc2100 (may upgrade more to 1gb)
    Athlon 2400+xp
and some case fans but havent decide what yet

Any advice on what power supply to use??

You'd better get 350+Watts PSU from a quality maker ... Enermax, Antec and Aopen make solid reliable PSU.

Agreed. I just built an AMD 2000 Machine, and one thing I've learned from responses to my posts's here, is that typically AMD's run a bit warmer than Intel for whatever reason, so when you do use the superior AMD processors, the fans and PSU are important.

Are you going to be oveclocking? If so you'll need a better heat sink and fan than comes standard with the 2400 also. Kenkun is right about the branded psus. What's the price range you're looking to stay in?

I've never had any problems with the 2 cheapo PSUs that've come with my cases but a few (6) months ago i upgraded form an Athlon 650 to a nice XP2200 and decided to get a "good" PSU jsut to be safe, i scored an Antec 400w Smartpower from CompUSA for around $45 and i've been nothing but happy... Antec makes good stuff and they're pretty inexpensive. I've also heard great thing about PC Power & Cooling supplies though i dont know how they price

As far as the o/c goes, you can always get another cooler later so no biggie. Good luck in the search.
