which is better?
Hi,
Currently I have an AMD XP 2400+ processor, I"m not sure what kind it is as far as Thourobred, Palomino, Barton, or Thorton...I'd assume the only way for me to find out is by opening up my tower, but I was wondering which one is better outof those 4 types?

The 2500+ is the Barton and it's better. It actually runs at a slower MHz then your 2400+, but since it has more cache it's faster. Plus you have more headroom now since you can overclock it more compared to what you started with. Alot of 2500s can do 3200 with just raising the FSB to 400. Mine did it no problem and @40deg.

Barton is better but a 2400+ can't be Barton. It's probably a Thourobred-B or A. Unless you are really unlucky, and you got a Palomino.
and they go in the order of
Palomin
ThourobredA
ThourobredB
Barton
Thorton

Thorton would be the best for a 2400.
The thortons also oc extremely well, from what I've heard, as good as any barton.
Same here, what cooler/fan are you using?Originally posted by camaro
