| 100 mhz pentium MB/cpu combo?
I have a 82443bx/zx440bx/zx MB, i believe that is the model #, who knows with intel... it says Intel Corperation made by Dell.
question, says it has a PIII 450 cpu
board says 100 Mhz bus speed.
how high of a cpu can I go with a 100 mhz bus speed?
And also, i saw a celeron 1.3 gig (pentium III based) cpu on NewEgg 100 Mhz. Would that work?
thanks |

hard to say for SURE..but 44obx boards can often go plenty high
If you get the right slocket etc you may be able to go to ghz celeron or something along those lines
do you happen to know what model Dell it was??

hmm is it s slot 1 or socket 370...you can get an adapter for a slot 1 and you will most likley need an adapter for a ppga/fcpga socket 370
you should check dell though the motherboard might have a limit

there are adapters http://www.strattoncomputer.com/slot1-fcpga2.html to allow you to use those celerons you named..they are called "tualatin" celrons and they rock....if you knew for sure it was a optiplex they do make the adapters specially for those Dehttp://www.strattoncomputer.com/sldegx1g1cpu.htmlll
the catch there is whether or not the dell uses a standard power supply or was that after they began using the non standard atx supplies? |

ahh, optiplex....these adapters do work, I have a couple myself..the only catch is that you need to go to the 'A07" bios...which is a little weird because a07 is NOT the latest bios..the latest bios is a10 but it wont work with that bios so you have to go to the a07 bios |

i will have to open it up tommorrow. I am up in Mich. at my dad's house and am trying to figure this thing out. I will be selling my amd system, well, parts from it to try and make some mula and do a possible upgrade to this, would like to get into the Ghz range and possible update on ram, only has 128 sdram, would like a ddr motherboard though. |

The highest you can get in a socket 370 is a Celeron 1.4ghz. Those adapters are superb. I bumped an HP (on Intel 810 chipset) up from a 700mhz to a 1.3ghz. |
