    Pentium 1 overclocking

    I have a lot of PC hardware laying around, and would like to try to overclock some system... All the extra parts are from the pentium age, so perhaps truckpuller could help, because he overclocks a 166 to 200...
    Alright, first off, which of these processors could handle an overclock the best:

    intel pentium {A80502-100 Sx963 ICOMP INDEX=815 C5250817-0713 INTEL(M) (C) '92'93}

    IBM {IBM 6x86 P166+ ibm26 6x86-2V2P166GE 133MHZ-3.3V}

    intel pentium w/MMX tech {A80503 166 SL27K 87480168-1169 INTEL(M)(C)'92'95}

    intel pentium i166 {FV80502166 SY037/VSU ICOMP(r) 2 #=127 malay L7083661-0812 (m)(c)'92'93}

    AMD K-6 {AMD-K6-166ALR 2.9V CORE/3.30V 1/0 C 9748fpkw (M)(c) 1997 AMD}

    intel pentium i200 {FV80502200 SY045/VSU ICOMP(r) 2 #=142 malay L7303224-1160 (m)(c)'92'93}

    Since I'm kinda tired, I'll post the available MOBOS and RAM later...

    probably depends on the motherboard as much as anything...what options it has for fsb etc (jumpers, lol)

    All right, I have <limited> dial-up, so I'll get the information on the MOBOs and be back in a bit...

    I'd say the 166's would probably clock to 200, I'm not sure about the AMD - I remember hearing they would go up a couple of notches, but maybe it was that they wouldn't overclock at all - or maybe that was Cyrix

    Just try them and see

    I don't know how to overclock, so I should try one of the 166's first. I also still have to post the MOBOS that I have, as this will be my first overclock, so as soon as I get them posted, I'll be ready for some guidance. This should be fun!

    Older motherboards almost always O/C with jumper setting on the board. The 166 would probably be the easiest as the boards usually can be bumped to 200 easily. The 200 you may be able to get to 233 if the board will support it. Don't bother with the K-6' they were quite unstable when O/C'd.
