mmol as in mmorpgs? or just for latest and greatest online gaming?
Not that it matters so much.
The general consensus around here seems to be a 2500+ barton (very easily overclockable to 3200+ speeds), with nforce mobo. 512 or a gig of 400 mhz ram, ATI 9800 pro.
I really don't feel like pricing this out fo ryou (i'm at work ) but www.newegg.com has really good prices on these items |

you'll probably have to throw another 100 bucks at the video card to even have a fighting chance at making a system for todays games. other than that it looks alright. www.newegg.com |

Yep, $100 won't get you too far for a decent video card nowadays.
i suppose you could find an older used one, like a Ti4600 or something, but that's really not being too future-friendly. hehe.
I'd suggest lowering your price for the motherboard (you can find MANY nice ones for under $100).
Then use that extra cash to get a nicer video card.
Maybe a 9800 non-pro or an FX 5900se |

well, if nobody is gonna give you any prices, i guess i will. *prays for rep points for this* ..... ok here it goes:
AMD AthlonXP 2500+ $87
Shuttle AN35N Ultra $57
Kingston ValueRAM 512 (2x256) Dual Kit $92
Gainward FX5900XT $193
Raidmax 268WBP 10 Bay Case $42
all prices include shipping and are from Newegg. dont try to find better deals cause Newegg is the best there is. i dont know where you live..... but i think Newegg charges tax only to CA residents. without tax however, i did a full checkout and it looks like it will be a total of $470.97 so i dont know if this fits your budget but with this, you'll have a nice gaming machine. also, i forgot but you will have to spend a couple more bucks on fans for the case. this case already comes with 2 fans on the side, but needs 4 80mm fans in front and one 60mm in back for some good cooling. i suggest 4 Speeze 80mm fans and a Powmax 60mm. alright that does it i think! oh ya, dont forget the money your gonna be spending on the games for this awesome system lol |
