Dragon Orb 3 results
Well I've had my new Dragon Orb 3 on and running although my ARII didn't get here yet so I used the supplied thermal paste, I couldn't wait to see how it performed. Well after putting a full load on the 1.3 TB on the MSI K7T Pro2 ver:1 mobo the temps highest point reached so far is 44c their are 2 80mm case fans(one on the side of the case pulling in new about 4" from the orb and one exaust out the back right behind the orb, oh and of coarse the ps fan.

not to crap the thread but i heard the fan on top of another fan was really all a gimick to sell fan on top of fans. i have the super orb and its not really all that great for cool.
you have it o/ced right?

Also to add not using ASII and I also plan to try the Thermaltake Volcano 7 in the next few weeks and I am going to wait to get some ASII on it before I do any major OCing and will prob. wait for the Volcano to get here first. It's running at 39c idle

i was looking at your system temp (32c), idle temp (39c), and Vcore (i'm assuming it's at default 1.75v) at 1.3GHz. IMO, it's still on the warm side but that's being a tad bit nit picky.

anyway, try to get the system temp below 30c. it should drop the idle and max temp a few degrees.
you will see a temp difference when you set the Vcore to 1.85v to get a better overclockabilty on that chip. keep an eye on your temp reading.

I just came by to recommend the TaiSol HS for you MDS, if you are thinking of a change ...
I've got great results on my 1600+ @150 FSB ... only 35c full load ...

Well I just got my Dragon Orb 3, tbird 1 ghz, and abit kt7a. And all I have to say about the Dragon Orb 3 is that its amazing.
At Default voltage, and at 1.2 GHz, under full load it hasn't gone over 35C yet, simply amazing. Oh yeah I used some Artic Silver 2 btw.
I'll be overclocking more later, i have to finish getting all the stuff back on my computer first, then ill flash the bios so it supports past 1.2 Ghz.
I must say its a bit noiser then i expected though....
Oh, and btw, really strange thing about mine, it didnt come with a thermal pad on it! SWEET!!

Say that case looks awfully familiar.
I guess great minds think alike.

BTW, got my tbird running at 1.26 ghz now with at 266 (133) fsb.
Hasn't gone above 36C for me at full load. The supplied compound must really suck for you to be running at that temp. Artic Silver all the way baby
I wish I could ho higher then 1.26, but my power supply cant handle it :/

Oh and MDS, that case fan next to your Dragon Orb, is that set to suck air into the case or blow it out?
I also have a 80mm fan there, set to blow in so its constantly feeding the heatsink with cold air, I tried both ways, found that blowing at the heatsink was much better.
Heres a little screenshot I made (I resized it smaller):

am i doing something wrong? I just bought the dragon orb 3 withthe copper base and the 7000rpm fan. My idle is 45°C and I cannot play a game for more than 10 seconds because asus probe tells me the processor is over 70°C. I also tried motherboard monitor and it said the same temp. I have a Pentium 3 1GHz not over clocled and as far as i am concerned...I would rather have my retail Heatsink back on because at least it didnt go over 55°C. I give the dragon orb 3 a 0 out of 10. Not only that but it is extremely loud.

Lemon[S]meg recommends you check out the contact between your CPU and HEatsink, and make sure the Arctic Silver is applied correctly (if anhy...)
