Well .. do you have the latest BIOS for your MoBo...? .. that could be fixed with BIOS update ..

welcome!

make sure the current bios doesn't have any incompatability issue with raising the fsb. read the bios's information and see if there is. if there is, then update the bios. if it dud't, then i recommend you don't update it.

raising the Vcore alone may not help you overclock your memory. i'm not familiar with your board, but see if you can raise the memory voltage or Vdimm a notch or two. it may help you gain higher system bus speed.

your 1600+ may reach 145fsb-150fsb. after that you may need to unlock the processor and drop the multiplier a notch so that the processor may run at a comfortable operating spec.

btw, make sure you have the latest MBM. MBM usually does a good job with the voltage readings. just make sure your setting in MBM is set correctly according to the motherboard.

what does the voltage reading in the bios say?

Look .. i will tell you what had happened with me few days ago ..

I changed my HS from GlobalWin to TaiSol .. Temp dropped few degrees and everything was OK .. until i booted up into winXP .. it just crashed immediately ... i dropped the FSB to 145 and the same thing happened .. winXP couldn't run more than few seconds ...
I check again and everything was OK, the temp readings in BIOS were just fine ..

I Removed the HS and saw that the AS was all over the CPU .. .. also another thing, one of the CPU protecting legs was off ...
So i cleaned the AS with Acetone and plugged the leg once again .. put back the HS carefully ...
Booted up like charm after that ...

I know it might not be related but just double check if your HS is seated well .. and it would be better to take it off and check then re-attach ...

Regards

this is what i got from reading about the low voltage.

Quote:
MSI sets up their BIOS to allows +/- .1 volt variation from the nominal spec for the chip, which is also the max spec for the chip.

if you want more info, mail MSI tech. if you wanna try your luck, try downloading the 3.43 beta bios from MSI's site.

http://www.msi.com.tw/support/bios/b...K7T266+Pro2-RU

remember, MSI builds there board for stability not tweak-ability.
