is this a factory built machine like dell or something?
What are the specs of the machine

There should be a setting in your cmos / Bios setup that will enable/disable hyperthreading for the P4. I thought only the 3.06 Ghz/533 FSB had hyperthreading, Changes ? P4- 2.4C + has hyperthreading/800 FSB.
Any who,, When is Intel going to support Multi threading ( more than two threads)
Oh,,,When they a get a license from the Japanese fisherman,, thats right ,,,lol
and dont forget AMD as well..............

533 fsb processors don't support HT, the overclocking might be fooling 3d mark into thinking it does
EDIT no you edited

hm...that might be true headband
my fsb is 162 right now
so 162x4 is..... 648 FSB...which is way higher than 533
anyway yea i dont think my cpu supports HT so nvm lol
plus only few programs support HT

I always thought that HT just meant 800MHz FSB

Ht??
Are you sure the 3d mark program isnt telling you that the "motherboard" supports HT?
Ive got a ECS 848P-A Version 2.0 motherboard and it supports HT but I had to get a P4 2.4 GHz cpu that is HT, for it to actually show 2 processors in device manager.
There's P4, P4 Celeron and of course P4 HT cpu's.

yup, I know, I checked it out, before I saw that, I always use to think that "HT" just meant 800MHz FSB

I think you have to say "Hyperthread Go!" in your best superhero voice when you turn the PC on.

I have a 3.0 GHz 800FSB P4, hyper threading is ENABLED by default correct?
-
November 2nd, 2004, 03:18 PM #15still none of them are 2.4 ghz...and i'm not so sure you should count mobile p4s they suck compared to a regular one

So then even though in task manager under performance, it shows 2 cpu's, hyper threading isn't enabled??
-
November 2nd, 2004, 03:34 PM #17
if it shows 2 it is enabled but i have always had to enable it...you may have without knowing by loading optimal dettings or something of that nature

I went from a 2.4 ghz p4 to 3.2p4 w/800 mhz fsb... wasnt really impressed with the difference. My meters on windows default to two cpu's on installation. Does anyone have any lag issues with the HT?

The lag could be because of:
