| CPU Fan Error Press F1 to resume
Hi all
i thought it would be cool to o/c my AMD Athlon 64 3800+ processor to 2.57 gig instead of the normal 2.4. And it kinda didn't work. Cause when i start up, it states. 'CPU Fan Error Press F1 to resume.'
So, i returned it to normal but whenever i boot up i still get that message. i can still use windows, it's just it's a bit annoying.
Have i permanently damaged my CPU? hope not.
Any suggestions? Thanks. |

Check to see if the cpu fan is properly connected to the motherboard. |

Yeah, he accidentally disconnected his cpu fan when he was overclocking... and somehow the cpu didn't fry itself
Anyway, is Cool and Quiet disabled? If you want to OC you'll have to disable it.

Hi and thanks for your replies.
I went into BIOS and went to Hardware monitor, the CPU fan speed was in red and said it was '1571'. So i pressed enter and then said to ignore it. Is this speed dangerous? Or is it just over the threshhold? Thanks again and a happy New Year to everyone at techinmo |

It should be running at its default speed, or darn close to it.
If your BIOS lets you do this, try setting your CPU fan speed threshhold limit in Hardware Monitor to a 200-300 rpm less than your fan's default speed.

alot of rpm monitoring cant understand under 2000rpm. Myt asus does the same thing when I use my fan bus to lower it really far. Its working but uner what they consider the threshold.

Not sure because I dont have one. But I thought A64 had throttling and volt control. Now betwen the two-it shouldnt burn up. At few mhz (since overheating with no sink) it could run bare die and not fry. I do agree though on the cool n quiet, its prob causing the alarm to go off-just disable it. OR go with a lower ratio. Like 1/2 speed no lower.. |

Thanks for your replies,
I took off Cool 'n' Qiet- that seemed to do the trick, also when i looked back in th Hardware monitor in BOIS, the speed was back to normal. |
