    Exclamation Removed Heatsink Question?

I installed my new cpu and heatsink on my new mb the other day. Come to find out the mb is defective and I had to send off for another one. I was wondering if it was nesseary to re apply the paste on the heatsink when putting it back on the cpu.

Yes, it is necesary to reapply the thermal paste as you will not get good heat transfer trying to use it twice.

If you want the best possible cooling, then reapply the paste after thoroughly cleaning the "old" stuff off...are you talking about the crappy white stuff that comes with most HS/Fans or Arctic Silver?

Agreed...if they would just take the time to read the instructions.
