i think that previous processors ran on a multiplier of the system clock a.k.a the front side bus. the system clock was generated by the motherboard chipset. if the mobo chipset system clock (fsb) ran at 200mhz and the cpu ran on a multiplier of 10 then you have 2ghz proc. However, with athlon 64's the system clock is integrated into the die of the chip itself and no longer relies on the mobo chipset.

    DDR566 isn't PC4200 btw, as DDR550 is PC4400.

If your gonna overclock then yes, get ram that can reach high speeds, but if not, I'd go for ram that has low latency, which usually clock up pretty good anyways, so....

well it should run at optimal speed, but it shouldn't be OK since you would wanna OC that baby sooner or later

nope; PC4500 is the highest, but the best bang for the buck (for OCers) is PC4000.

Oh, I think you still can if you can explain to us all the difference between the fsb and the "Hyper Transport bus" (I had to go to dictionary.com to figure out what coup de grace meant)

well the FSB is the speed at which the CPU communicates with the RAM, while HT.... is just a useless number for now
