Thermalright XP-90 enough for...??
Hey guys,
as you may know, I'm buying an A64 3500+ and I am in the market for a good cooler that'll fit on my a8n-sli board.
I heard that the xp90's are also being used as good coolers for the FX-55, so I was wondering if this cooler would be good enough to cool my 3500+ when I overclock it a lot.
I have good casecooling, so airflow is totally not a problem, plain and simple, will this heatsink be up to the task??
Thanks for any info.

anyway... i have a 3500+ Winnie and I had it running at 2.6ghz with a Thermaltake Silentboost K8 so im sure the XP90 will be more than enuff

Thanks for the info, but I'm sure I'll be ok with my cpu, since I'll be waiting for the venice, and not getting a winnie.

I have a backup gaming rig, so I can still satisfy my other addiction.

This rig is nearing it's completion...........finally.

Today I'll be picking up the x800xl from the postoffice, I wasn't there yesterday to receive it at home.
I'll have the cooler next week, and the venice cpu shouldn't be too long after that, since they should be hitting shelfs around the 20th, so.....

Yea, get the xp90 and a silent fan to attatch it. Or get the Zalman 7700Cu (or something like i dont remember the model number lol) Theyre both rated high for OCing and silent performance

On sunday I'll be making pics of my rig, altho it won't be complete yet, I can make it look complete, so you can see why I'm gonna be lovin this rig.

Today I picked it up, the 800xl, and it came with Collin mcrae 4, already had it, but who am I to complain.
But I thought the 800xl didn't have an xtra powerplug on the card, well this one does, and it also has dual dvi.
Now all I'd need is a dvi connected monitor. lol

This is weird.
I was looking up a review on the club3d x800xl on viperlair.com, and they stated the following specs for the card:
• Fully DirectX 9 Compliant
• 16 Pixel Pipelines
• 6 Vertex Pipelines
• 256 Bit memory interface
• Club 3D White Blinking “intelligent” Cooling
• YPrPb component out 720p 1080i
• 0.11 Low-k technology
I was made to believe that none of the 800xl's were made with low-k tech and therefor were pretty lowzy overclockers, what is the deal here??
*edit*
I looked on the box of my 800xl and even on that it states low-k tech, I'm getting confused here.
It has to have that tech or else they can't advertise with it, right??

it will work without a doubt
Intel Core 2 Duo 6300, 2 GB XMS Corsair RAM, GTX290 XFX (nasty card), 160GB SATA 3 WDD HD, GIGABYTE 6-QUAD Series MOBO, Tsunami Dream case.

I'm not doubting whether it'll work or not, I'm doubting if it is true what they advertise.
Cause in alot of other reviews on the 800xl, only different brands, it stated that the card wasn't a good overclocker, since it wasn't built with low-k tech
in this review:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/vid...-x800xl_3.html
it states :
Mine states it has both the low-k thingies and also 0.11 micron, so if that'strue, I should have a nice overclockable card in my hands at this very moment.Like with the reference RADEON X800 XL, overclocking is not rewarding. The graphics processor is only stable at 435MHz at best. That’s the trade-off for the 0.11-micron tech process without low-k dielectrics.Last edited by Ultima; April 16th, 2005 at 09:52 AM.
