What cooling are people using?
Just wondering what cooling and fans people are using:
Cooling on the Fan-O-matic (TM)
CPU HSF: Themaltake SlientBoost K7 heatsink with Tt coolmod 2 fan
northbridge: Zalman heat sink
GPU: Vantec Iceberq 4
RAM: Tt 40mm fan
Akasa LED 80mm X4 case fans
Akasa HDD coolers X2 (x2 60mm fans per cooler)Visit us at www.gotechzilla.com

I have an aluminum case for starters.
CPU: Gigabyte 3D Cooler-Pro w/arctic silver 5
northbridge/southbridge: stock ASUS heatsink
GPU: Stock Albatron 6600GT HSF (Massive!)
Plus, 2x60mm fans blowing on bottom of card
And, exhaust blower on top of card to remove excess heat from case
RAM: Stock Corsair PRO HS w/status LEDs (Love this HS...)
Case: 2x120mm fans (1x intake, 1x exhaust)
PSU: Antec 430W TruePower 2x80mm (1x intake, 1x exhaust)
HD: 2x60mm (Only on the Raptor)
Edit-
CPU temp: 38°C (P4 Prescotts suck!)
MoBo temp: 24°CLast edited by RamAirTA98; April 17th, 2005 at 04:57 PM.

I have an Alluminum case, the Cooler Master Stacker.
CPU: Vantec Aeroflow 7 w/ generic thermal paste.
GPU: Stock Evga 5900 NU
Case: 2x120mm fans (1 intake, 1 exhaust)
2x80mm fans (1 exhaust top, 1 intake side)
Hard Drives (4 drives): 16x30mm fans (yes, 16 fans, all intake)
PSU: Foxtronn 450 watt 1x80mm (exhaust)
Thermal Take 420watt 2x80mm (1 intake, 1 exhaust)
So thats 25 fans total.
Temps right now are: 48°C CPU 100% load
35°C Case
My temps suck because its warmer in my room (already summer here down south) and its been a long time since i have cleaned my computer. (I can see dust on my front drive bezels infront of the 120mm intake fan, hehe)

JPMiller, a case made of goose down feathers would capacitate a higher ambient temperature than a case of aluminum. While not hardly worth the premium paid for an aluminum case, there is an inherant advantage present in owning an aluminum case - temperature wise.
I personally cool with an SLK900 copper heatsink and a 92mm fan, nothing else.Last edited by DPA; April 17th, 2005 at 01:56 AM.

Literally and basically, aluminum has a better heat conductive capability than the standard steel frame case. Thus heat can be absorbed and dispursed through both ventilation and the case physically in an aluminum case better than a "low end" steel case.Last edited by DPA; April 17th, 2005 at 02:00 AM.

OK...
explain the advantages of cooling when using an aluminum case VS a steel case...

sorry for highjacking this thread...
I'll bump an old post that covers this...

JP:
again, just for further enforcement of the aluminum > steel case ideal, remember that we have yet to be "graced" by steel heatsinks, aluminum possesses much greater heat conducting properties than steel, but is obviously much more expensive and much less durable. Therefore, just save yourself the money and buy a steel case guys, you'll never notice the difference.

i have pretty much have stock cooling...4 extra case fans though
oh yeah i just put an iceberq 4 on my video card as the stock cooler went out last friday....right before a lan party
btw it is a myth the aluminum is cooler than a steel caseHey who turned sigs on?

April 17th, 2005, 02:38 AM #13LMAO about being "graced" by steel heat sinks... Aluminum dissipates heat much greater than steel. The ambient temp in the case will get dispersed through the aluminum easier. Granted, it isn't A LOT of difference, it does help by a few degrees...

he said "graced" sarcasticaly.
I like the looks of silver alluminum cases. I got the Stacker, not cause it was alluminum, but just because it had what i needed. The bad ass looks and shiny silver alluminum body just came along with it

Cpu: Thermalright XP-90
ram: Thermaltake copper heatspreaders
videocard: ATI silencer 5
Then I have 3 80mm blue cold cathode fans, 2 normal 80mm fans.
In my PSU there are 2 fans I think. 1 120mm intake and 1 80mm to blow out of the case.Last edited by Ultima; April 17th, 2005 at 06:38 AM.
