no...there are no s478 dual boards because the p4 architecture won't allow it
the board you have supports only 533fsb cpus so if you want a 3.2 you are going to have to upgrade your motherboard....if you are using the onboard video it will be fairly easy to upgrade to a more futureproof socket t solution if you want to upgrade your mobo

well i use a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200LE (128 MB) video card at the min, but i'm also planning to upgrade that to a ATI Radeon 9600XT (256MB) card, I'm not exactly sure how much better this one is than the one i currently have, i just go by proce difference lol...i figure if its more expensive its better right??? xD
so how do i know what motherboard will work with teh pentium 4 i want and also with all the other stuff i current use/have on my computer?? sorry for been such a n00b lol i'm new to hardware stuff....lol only upgradin experience ive got is puttin a piece of 512k ram in to teh comp xD
i've been looking around...and would THIS mobo work?? with teh pentium 4 i want??? even thos this motherboard is a different size 2 the one i currently have would it still fit in my case???
also is there any tutorials/guides you can direct me 2, 2assist me with installing both the new processor and the mobo??
thanx,
Bael
[EDIT]
ok did some more searching, and found a motherboard with 800fsb and is s478 that is micro-atx same as what my current 1 is, so i think this one should work right?? Click Here to see it, also will the RAM i have in my computer now work in this comp or will i need to buy a whole new type of Memory??
[EDIT AGAIN]
xD omg that one won't work it doesnt have an AGP slot xD
ok last try :P This one ??
Thanx again,
Bael

OK... before you go ANY farther... we need some more info...
First off is this some compaq, HP, dell or something like that?
all the big name brands basically use a variety of proprietary parts such as in case design, power supply limits and other random problems...
When doing upgrades its necessary to take into consideration ALL the factors...
you do an upgrade to the processor, and video, you may well be looking at a new power supply as well... |

OK...
no need to upgrade the Mobo...
you can upgrade to most any AGP video card you want...
you can get just about any P4 with that interface as well due to the 800 FSB ability...
your memory should work fine...
your only concern may be the power supply...
open the side and there should be a sticker with your power supply info on the outside of the PSU facing you...
tell us what the maximum wattage states and the amps on the +12V line |

| Code: Max DC output: 200w (+3.3v & +5v =105w Max)
DC Output: +3.3v---14.0A, +5V---21.0A, +12V---10.0A think thats what you needed right???
I don't undertsnad tho, the other guy said my motherboard only had 533FSB and thats what it says on the FSB properties of my motherboard aswell :S Code: Front Side Bus Properties:
Bus Type Intel NetBurst
Bus Width 64-bit
Real Clock 133 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock 533 MHz
Bandwidth 4266 MB/s

Thats what its running right now with a Celeron installed...
not whats its capable of... http://www.acer.co.uk/acereuro/page9...crc=3479343951
shows SiS 661FX chipset supporting 400/533/800 MHz FSB
-------------
OK... as long as its not a MicroATX PSU then you should be able to upgrade it...
because of its horribly low specs, I wouldnt attempt ANY upgrade unless you get a new PSU first! |
