    Proformance boost from a 2.4C to a 3.2?

How much faster do you guys think it would be for my comp if I put in a 3.2ghz P4 instead of the 2.4 I have? One other thin, they would both have an 800mhz fsb.

It would give you a nice overall system boost. too bad you have a dell, since those 2.4's can OC like crazy

Ya, if I could find a way around the locked bios it would be OC'd already, but I gave up on that a long time ago.

Edit: How much do you think that the extra proformance would be worth?

Nope, my chip was an ICS, and it was like this

    CA330543
    0316
    952601EF

I could not find anything like that in the list of chips supported.

So I guess no OCing for my dell.

Also, do you think it would be better to get a northwood, even if I could get a prescott for around $50 cheaper?

I'd go Northwood. You'll be happy with the cooler temps that will result in an overall system performance. I think I read that a 3.2 Prescott performs like a 3.0 Northwood and so on, so getting a 3.4 Northwood will give you better performance than an equivalent Prescott.
    Wake up you're dead.

I did exactly what it said in the forum, and then I try to click on the "frequency set, or "tray frequency" or anything like that this is what it shows me...

bah, get a new mobo instead....2.4Cs are cool little chips. besides, teh 3.2 gigger still only has a 800mhz FSB. So get a new mobo and OC the sucker...it's cheaper.

edit/ crap..you'd need a new case and PS....but if you buy smart, those three components will be less than the cost of teh 3.2...and you still get to keep ur nice 2.4C. Thats what I would do anyways...

Well, I was looking for a 3.2 on ebay...and in anouther thread you can see what I did to my case, and I really don't want to get rid of it anymore.

    Is your motherboard an Abit?
I think you need to change the motherboard in CPUFSB.

The tutorial on the other forum never said anything about changing it, and there is none in there for OEM, or dell, the closest was intel, but that didn't do anything either.
