| AMD Athlon XP 2000+
I bought this from a friend a few days ago. In bios I can set it to 2000+ or 1.24GHz.
What I wanna know is......
If I set it to 2000+ would that be overclocking it or would that be its normal speed?
Cause the person I bought it from told me it was an Athlon XP 2000+
Also what temperature range should I keep it in for stability and to keep it from getting killed.

it should be at 1.67GHz, with a 266FSB, so 133MHz bus speed...which gives it around a 12 multiplier...
as for temps, technically, they can withstand like 75C, but optimally, you will want to keep it around 45C or lower at full load...good luck..

I'd say try to keep it below 60c and you'll be fine. |

yeah, it'll be fine...it can run at it's own clock speed just fine as long as your RAM can handle the speed when clocking in sync, which you should be fine...good luck, ttyl... |

I remember those days...a little nervous about changing something in the BIOS. Congrats on your success! |

The first time i did overclocking in bios and i overclocked too high and the system didng boot but beeped, i thought i burned the cpu lol. It was so funny i grabbed my heart and almost fell of my chair, then i saw it boot up and i saw i could click the delete key to get into bios. So yeah first time is always scary. Good job! |
