if you're asking how far you can overclock it then no one can tell you. some processors overclock better than others. You could get a dud and barely overclock it or it could be a great overclocker and be a screamer...i couldn't tell you how well they overclock on average but just remember you're not guaranteed to get a good overclock!

The Celeron's were not notable for overclocking.
Celeron D's should be overclocking beast [unless it's a dud].

    A overclocking guide
    http://forums.extremeoverclocking.co...ad.php?t=79266

Your motherboard make and model is the most important part of whether an overclock can be successful or not. Having good ram is as important as having a good oc'ing cpu. Like sr71000 said, the only way to find out if your cpu oc's well is to try it & find out. Read the guide above first if you want to give it a try.

I got a Celeron D 2.8 OCed to 3.8 Air stable so if that helps any.

Just keep a careful eye on your temps at all times while OCing.

you can't really unless someone found out a pattern, like a certain cpu before a date
oc'ed well and then most cpu's after that date were not as good
but you can't tell for each individual cpu AFAIK

Stock Intel HS. With 2 80mm case fans. Can't get the speeds to go past 2100RPM on CPU. Kinda sucks.

Those northwood celerons are decent overclockers. 3+ GHz is possible (YMMV), but even if you overlock the bejeezus out of it, it's still gonna be slow thanks to the crippling effect of only having 128k cache. If you must get a celeron, then go with the celeron D. They have extra cache that make them anywhere from 10 to 30% faster at the same clock speed!

    Well, then overclock.
But, you may want to invest in something other than stock cooling.

I have overclocked...I really don't need to invest right now, I mean 3.8 is pretty good. So I'll just stick with it. Well Blitzkreig I hope that helped. Lol.

Yes, 3.8 from 2.8 is good.
Assuming that's the max., I would leave cooling alone.
