There really isn't one. The closest is their dual core Extreme Edition.

Intel has no match for amd's 4800, simple as that
    Main PC: AMD FX-8350 / 16gb DDR3 1600 / AMD 7970GE 1200mhz Core & 1600mhz Mem / Win7 Pro 64bit
    File Server: AMD Opteron 180 / 3gb DDR400 / Nvidia 6200 / WinXP Home 32bit / Lubuntu 12.10
    Laptop: HP-Compaq nc8430/ Intel CoreDuo T2400 / 2gb DDR2 667/ Ati x1600 / WinXP Pro 32bit

No intel cpu can get near the X2 4800.

Just something I have seen on other sites. Unless you are going to be running multiple applications on like two screens or something like that, the single core high end processors are faster for your average person. They did some gaming benchmarks on one site with a FX-55 or 57 and they out ran the duel core processor in everything until it came to multitasking. Gaming the single cores do BETTER. Just something to think about.

But realisticly, the difference between an FX-57 and a 4800+ in gaming isn't even worth it. I mean what's the difference in 459276 fps in Doom 3 and 452111? We all multitask. If your pc is connected to the net you have to run an AV, spyware blaster, possibly a software firewall. FAD, your browser, winamp and on and on and on. I know the benchies show two extremes like "dvd encoding while brute forcing the NSA database" but there is plenty of normal multi-tasking that the 4800+ is going to rock with.

Also it won't be long before games take advantage of dual cores.

I've got the FX-55 single core processor and I have no problems with multi-tasking

I thought about going with a dual core setup but by the time games are using dual cores, the dual cores I'd have in my rig would be outdated so I'll wait till my next system to go dual core.

Well, an FX-55 is great for just about anything.
It's just that dual-cores can do multitasking a video encode and play a game like Doom 3 with no lag [if properly equipped].

Try video encoding and playing your favorite FPS game at the same time and see what happens to your gaming performance....

    see!?

that will not happen with an X2 you will get absolutely no performance loss in that case.

I don't see why people have the need to multitask that heavily. I mean comeon, the average comp own isn't going to be encoding and playing a game at the same time.

X2's are still a lot of money right now, i'm still debating whether to wait it out till the price drops or get maybe a 3500+ singlecore

Well, the X2 3800+ isn't that much, only $200 more than the 3500, and I know that I would easily get the extra $200 out of a dual core system, I love to do many things at once(mabey it is from growing up on an HT machine?) 95% of the time, other than the normal windows processes, I have Fad, WMP, 5 pages on FF open, mabey a copy of word, or notepad, paint, sometimes flash mx, of 3ds, or frontpage, or burning, or copying a movie... I have lots of stuff that is going on on my pc.

I always burn DVDs and do encoding/compression, it's a pain because it's a long process and sometimes some of them cannot be paused but I want to play my game, I also want the process to continue because I have to return a movie or something like that.... so I think I'll be getting my 3800+ dual core soon, hopefully

I mean come on, it's basically almost like having 2 PCs to manipulate with at once, isn't it great!!!

Ya! With this pc it is pretty nice to multitask...I usually can encode a movie at the same time I am surfing the web, or using wmp! I LOVE HT!

except HT cpus aren't anything close performance-wise to what dual core or dual cpu rigs can do. intel likes to market HT as having 2 processors on the chip but it's more bark than bite.

Ya, I know that HT is not nearly as good as a dual core, but it does alow you to do multiple things at one time much more easily.

I thought HT was supposed be basically a second virtual processor.
My other car is a T-34.
