no pc4200 is not only for laptops...infact i havn't seen pc 4200 that is even avalible for a laptop only pc2 4200
for a desktop pc 4200 is not a recognized industry standard but most boards that support pc3200 also support pc4200
imo it is a waste of money to get anything more than pc 3200...your main bottleneck it going to be the cpu though

Also make sure if it's 184 pin(ddr1) 240pin(ddr2) but that's not for laptops.
If you are looking for ram for your desktop, from those specs you need ddr1 AFAIK. |

If you are looking to overclock, then sure.
If not, just go for some PC3200. That's the highest your motherboard supports.
If you were to use PC4200, your board will underclock it to PC3200 speeds. The only benefit of PC4200 is to overclockers since PC4200 can reach high speeds while staying stable. |

You should definetely kick out the PC2100.
And also the PC3700, not because it will slow down the rest, but because you won't run dual channel with 3 sticks.
Just buy the 1Gb (2 x 512) and put them in slots 1+3 or 2+4.
