Hi,
I have a system with 512mb ram ddr 533mhz running on it. It runs fine with this. I then installed another 512mb ram stick of memory (exactly the same as the other one). My motherboard has 4 slots for ddr2 ram and has dual channel capability. I initially put both the sticks of ram in the same channel and the bios bought up a message stating that putting the ram into 2 channels in equal amounts will improve allow for the dual channel functionality. So i did this and the bios recognised this and enabled the dual channel functionality.
My bios registers the 1gb worth of ram and so does my windows XP.
The problem is that i have a game (Championship manager 2001/2002) which worked perfectly fine with 512mb ram but with 1gb ram it states that there is not enough system memory availabe and to free up memory and try again.
How can a system whcih runs fine on 512mb ram suddenly complain about ram when it has been doubled?
There should be more than enough ram available and there is nothing else running that would drain the system ram.
What could it be??
I'm getting pretty desperate and need some help if possible.
My system is a P4 3.6ghz L2 2mb cache 64bit cpu, Intel Mobo with ddr2 ram capability, 120gb ATA western didgital harddrive & 160gb SATA Seagate harddrive, Radeon X550 256mb graphics card, the on-board sound card had problems so i have an external sound card (USB).
I have windows XP running with all the latest updates installed and have the latest bios version for the Mobo.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated and much needed.
Thank you,
Shuja.
