i think my processor is bad?

i have a hp a305w with a intel celeron processer and my computer wont do anything.... all that happens is the light behind the push button to turn it on just flashes...... is it the processor or the mother board or what ...... can any one help

It could be anything. Processor, motherboard, or power supply. I'd personally start with the power supply.

Power Supply

It could be a bad power supply. the power supply is the square box can (inside the case) that the power cable plugs into. It is the box with all of the little wires coming out of it. Sometime you can smell around there and it might smell burnt.
Also, was the power to pc tuned off for an extended period of time? Rarely the onboard battery can go bad not allowing it to bootup.
Another option could be bad RAM but again that normally doesn't go bad.
I would bet it is the powersupply

The battery is only used for the internal clock, the battery being dead only means the system will reset to the default clock time and date. Ive had a bad battery before and it never effected my system beyond this.

Without knowing more information, we can only guess. As Ex asked, what happened just before it stopped working? How long have you had it?
