| hi, i have a AMD 64 3500+ and a MSI K8N Neo4-F...
i was wondering what the actual clock speed of my 3500+ is...in my system information it says 2.2 Ghz but when i go to play lost coast in steam it tells me its only 1 Ghz and it also tells me that its 1 Ghz in my personal statistics addon for mIRC.
i was thinking of overclocking it and looking for some help on how to do so...also could anyone explain why these different things are telling me my cpu is at different speeds? this is the first time ive owned an AMD and it really doesnt feel like its as fast as its supposed to be...
any help would be appreciated... |

| the 1ghz is because of cool'n'quiet technonogy...it underclocks itself when idle to conserve power
if you want to overclock there are many extensive guides out there...use google, but before you try you should be sure you know what you are doing

| as Headband said... cool and quiet is slowing the CPU down.. its actually 2.2ghz...
if u dont know much about CPUs and OCing then dont do it... its not really worth it unless ur into benchmarking and such...

| Vik is right, and well if you don't feel your cpu is fast...its probably in your head
You have a great cpu there, no need to overclock it.
But...if you really want to...
What kind of ram do you have, and what kind of psu
There are a lot of factors and information wiht overclocking, especially with a64's.
Google jarad's overclocking guide if you want more info
