Yeah...definitely the RAM...make sure you secure the RAM before booting it up...don't always rely on the faint click...push down on it to make sure it is REALLY snug

The ol' POP sound...did you smell any smoke or anything...I recently fried my front USB port because I didn't connect it correctly on my motherboard...threw in a jump drive to test, then big pop, then the smell of smoke...my 6 case fans took care of it in no time though ...

Never try to make something fit on your motherboard that will in no way fit correctly

I tried the old ram and still no luck, the worst part is upon re-inserting the ram I broke (how I dont know) the "clips" that secure the ram in...ouch. So do I just get a new motherboard?

And with the popping sound I did also smell a bit of smoke, I know..I know NOT a good sign. :-)

Thanks ya'll!

Examine the copacitors. If one is bulging, they're not that difficult to replace.

Are you SURE you had the correct ram?
Post all the spec's on your system, brand & model of board, cpu, is it a custom built pc etc. Might also be the power supply has quit.
