This is definatly the best air cooled heatsink available, hands down.

The Best hsf imo. I got this for my first built, keeps my x2 64 3800+ at idle 20*C and at full load 28-30*C

I would go for the 120MM fan if you can, I am on a slow connection and don't care to check, but I am almost positive that it comes in a 120mm for the Socket 754 and 939. More air flow, and cooler processor. I have the 92mm on a 2600+ oc'd to 2300MHz (little of a 3200+) and it is running at about 42C Max Load (I believe the XP's run quite a bit hotter than the newer proc's)
I am stupid btw, lol; thinking of the wrong HSF (I am thinking of the flat one, not the one that goes vertical)Last edited by MitaDC; February 2nd, 2006 at 01:23 AM.

What are you gonna be doing, running your cpu in lava?!?
$60 - $70 for a heatsink? That's insane.
Let me guess, you need all that cooling because you're going to overclock the heck out of it? Well, why not just take that huge chunk of change that you're wasting on a heatsink and put it towards a faster cpu?

why spend another 400 bucks on a 4400 on a CPU WHEN i can buy a heatsink thats 60 bucks and make a 3800 just as fast as a 4400+ (im already running at 4400 so i just saved myself what 200 dollars on a stock cooling?)
in the long run, OCing with a heatshink is much cheaper

heat is seldom the limit on overclockability anymore...what gives if you have it running at 2.4 on stock cooling at 60, or a $60 cooler at 50...or even a $20 cooler at 52
Hey who turned sigs on?

Stock AMD cooler w/heatpipes is very good.
XP-90 & SI-120 are v. good imo.

February 2nd, 2006, 03:10 AM #15what i'm trying to say is that there are other limitations to the core and you will hit those long before heat becomes a problem with todays processors

It's easily possible(not guarenteed) these days to OC an the 3800+ processor to 4600+ speeds on stock cooling. Generally the temp doesn't go up enough for you have to worry. 4200+(same Ghz as the 4400) speed's would be no problem
You simply asked what the Best heatsink was and you've been given suggestions. Personally I don't thing the CNPS 9500 is necessary, but if you have some cash to spend, go ahead and buy it as it outperforms cheaper watercooling systems. But you don't really need something like that unlessyour going to try to go past 4800+ speeds.

Zalman : Recently purchased this one and installed it yesterday - dropped cpu temp by 5C after 6 hours (compared to a stock HSF). Quite pleased with it so far.

ThermalTake : Huge but quiet. Never took the time to compare cpu temps though.

Well i want to get as high as i can w/o going over 50C
i did that prime95 last night and i was at a steady 45C (it never went to 100% CPU usage because of the duelcores) it was stuck at 50 lol... so i had to run a second one on the other core
