    X2 4800 - What perfromance advantage over other X2's?

    Hi

I'm putting together an AMD dual core system, and was just wondering if it's worth the extra cash for the 4800+ ? Anyone got any experience with the perfromance differences over th 4400 and 4600?

    Cheers!

From what I hear, it's better to get one of the following: 3800+, 4200+ or the 4600+. I just keep hearing the extra Cache does not make much of a difference. Tomshardware.com also shows these results in benchmarks and they're not much diff in them.

the 4800+ isnt worth the huge jump in price...

I agree, I'd get the 4400... Performance from the extra cache depends on the application. Some benifit more than others. Plus, you can always OC the 4400+ and have the higher clock speeds AND 2x the cache. No matter how high you clock the lower cache ones, they'll always have less cache
