    Monitor Shut-down

I just got home with a 512mb memory card to upgrade from 128mb, plugged it in and my monitor won't come on. Anyone?

It's not the monitor. It's the memory.
Need all your specs, including new and old mem.

    Ok, here's my best shot...
Compaq Presario, had 128mb card and just bought a 512 mb card. Took the old card with me to buy the new one. I'm running Widows XP, have plenty of space on my 80g hard drive. Did take the battery off the mother board to try and reset it based on a friends advice but did not work.

    Model # of the Presario.
What kind of RAM did you buy , DDR 2100,2700,3200 SDRAM PC100/PC133, or the newer DDR2

I'm pretty sure the RAM is incompatible, but we need to know what you have to help.

Thanks for your reply. We've already taken it to our neighborhood guru and it appears the motherboard has died. Had tell-tale signs and just a coincedence I suppose. Problem solved!
