RAM compatibility issue?

I bought PC3200 DDR because I read in my motherboard manual that it would accept it. After I bought it I read that DDR400 will only be reached with AMD Athlon XP 3200+ and above. So I am wondering if I need to send it back and get PC2700. I am thinking that PC3200 is backward compatible and that I can just install it. Am I right?

My motherboard is an ASUS A7V600-X and my CPU is an AMD Arhlon XP 2500+.

DDR400 (PC3200) is backward compatible. You should be able to use it at DDR333(PC2700).
