3500 + temps

Hello,

I just upgraded my video card and motherboard, due to my AGP 6800 GT dying. I had to change it up to a 6800 ultra PCI express with a Winfast NF4SK8AA.

I kept my cpu and RAM.

Anywho, My cpu temps are 50C at idle. Is this OK. It seems a bit hot. Maybe I should have reaplied some new thermal paste when installing the cpu in the new board.

Is it too hot?

Thanks in advance,

Pete

For an AMD 3500+ thats a little high for Idle. But, your sensor may not be giving you a correct reading.

Take around -5 to -10 off for a bad sensor, incorrect reading. So it would be around 40-45, which is correct.

What is it reading during load?

40-45 during idle? My 3500+ stock runs between 24-27C Idle and like 32-34C Load

I just ran a few test. 3dmark05 and prime95. Although I haven't ran them for long, the temps go upto 56C with full load. Idle is around 50C.

I have also changed the smartfan option, in the bios, from 55C to 45C. What exactly does this option do?

I got this new Foxconn (winfast) NF4skaa without really looking at others due to my vid card dying on me this morning. What are your opinions on this board. I could exchange it for something else. MSI neo 4 maybe?

I exchanged my motherboard and video card again today.

I now have a MSI Neo4 and a Sapphire Radeon X850 PE. The temps are aroun 38C-47C. It seems a bit better.
