I am currently having a computer built for me with a ECS C19-A SLI Chipset w/7.1 Sound, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0 Dual PCI-E MB ) motherboard and 1024MB (512MB x2) DDR2-667 PC5300 Memory Corsair.
The Question is I have a gig stick of DDR2-533 4200 Corsair as well. Will I beable to add this to the machine or will it degrade my preformance?
I'm thinking 2gigs is better then one, but im not sure with the different speeds.
Any help would surely be great

if you add the extra ram albeit slower ram the faster ram will be downclocked to the same speed as the slower ram but as all the ram you specified is faster then the pc will run it by default it won't slow it down, now if you plan on overclocking the front side bus then this is differant then you can overclock to the speed of the slower ram but not as high as the fastest ram but you would notice a much much faster pc from the extra ram. to sum up i'd rather have 2gb of very fast ram than 1gb of even faster ram the former will give you the best performance but all are compatable so experiment i think you'll find what i've said to be correct i've done similer things myself let me know how you get on by sending me a reply

I would add in the extra 1GB stick...I highly doubt you will see performance losses...but 1GB more of ram should help...
All you can do is try it...

Thank you again

The motherboard will run the PC5300 at 333MHz without overclocking (ddr2 does that). If you add the PC4200 the memory will downclock to 266MHz and run single channel vs dual channel. It's hard to say which will perform better, you'll just have to run various tests to see for yourself.
Oh, and...
