    Unhappy i need help bad!

i've already overclock my processor from 2.8ghz to 3.2ghz...
    it runs just nice...
but the main problem is the temperature...
sometimes it reach at 55 celcius...
i've already put a lot of thermal compound on it...
can i make the processor cooler?

    my specs:-

    P4 775 2.8ghz@3.2ghz
    ASUS P5V800 motherboard
    512mb apacer value ram
    80gb SATA II HD

yea, if you want to go cooler, a water cooling setup is in your future.

That might be one of your problems, too much thermal compound.

Too much and you are going to actually inversely affect heat conduction between the CPU and the heat sink.

You could try a different heatsink. There are plenty out there now with 92-120 MM cooling fans.

Also alot is dependent on your case air flow and the ambient tempertaure.
If the ambient is fine, then i would look into the case airflow as well as getting rid of some of that thermal greese, a thin layer is all that is enough, more will hurt you rather then help you.

Well he is saying it "reaches" 55*c so i'm assuming it's his load temps. If so, 55* isn't bad for a late gen p4.

Perhaps that is a problem. You do not want to put a lot of thermal paste on the CPU. You want just a thin even layer.

If that temp is when it is under a load that is a good temp. If that is an idle temp it's not too bad. Mine idles around 50-52 C during the summer and mine is not overclocked.

I'm not familiar with your CPU cooler so I can't say whether it is a good one or not. Maybe someone else can answer that for you. I use a Thermalright XP-120. It is a good cooler but I am not impressed with cost to performance ratio. If I were building a system now I would use the Thermalright XP-90.
So if someone suggests a new cooler you might consider the XP-90.

Can you please run prime 95 and tell us the temps it reaches , I dont consider my cpu stable till i can run Prime for 24+hours with out a error .

As stated before if 55 is you load temp that isnt the end of the world as it is summer time , Somthing cheep that you can do is make a duct from the side of your case that maybe has a extra fan that is directed right on your Cpu HSF
