| Intel Pentium D 930 with 4MB L2 only shows 2MB L2 Cache....?
I just bought a system with a Intel Pentium D 930 LGA775 800FSB 3.0Ghz processor with Intel D945GNT motherboard. Processor has 4MB of L2 cache but only 2MB is showing on BIOS.
Bios version is NT94510J.86A.3528.2006.0208.1102
How to solve this problem.....!
Please help.......? |

Guys .. thanks for your comments. I think i have realized the couse of my problem. Actually its not a problem. 930 has 2 individual cores inside the processor. Each processor has 3.0Ghz, 2MB L2 cache. Unlike intel's new core duo this 930 doesnt have shared L2.
So its normal to show only 2MB as L2 Cache. If we expect 4MB to be shown it should show 6.00 Ghz as the clock speed too.
Anyway It should show 2 processors in the device manager. And you'll be able to get 2 CPU usage history panels in performance tab under task manager.

Hi all,
make sure that you have NO next to HT technology in your BIOS. My one was on and my D830 was showing as 1 processor.
It may help.

Well, you should press ctrl-alt-del and look at the performance tab, it should show both cores. if it doesn't, then you probably didn't re-install when you upgraded from single core to dualcore.
