Actually you can get a 40mm fan to mount on your NorthBridge to keep it cool enough to reach a 370 to 400MHz FSB. You are currently running a 3:4 cpu:ram divider, which has your ram running at it's rated speed (FSB is at 300MHz, memory is at 400MHz). That could be causing problems getting the cpu FSB past 300MHz. If you look for the dram ratio of 1:1 you will be underclocking your ram and giving you more headroom to overclock the cpu.
Do worry about trying to tighten timings until you have found the cpu's max frequency.
And may I say, that's already a nice overclock - congrats. But you should be able to get more out of that E6600. |

yeah my northbridge is weird, if i dont have anythin on it, (its cooled passively) it runs around 47C. but with the side panel off and a house fan pointed at it, it runs around 33C. i tried once puttin a 40mm fan from my other mobo on it and it still ran at 45C and that was at stock speeds, with the house fan on it, it runs at 33C and thats when its overclocked. but i see what yur sayin bout the underclockin my ram, ill hafta try that.

ok well i dunno if it had anythin to do with it or not but i would assume so since i took the divider advice and now i can break my old 300Mhz barrier. i havent tried any maxing yet, im just bench tonight to make sure its actually stable where it is with the divider at 1:1 and my FSB at 312. |

Ok i just wanted to say thanx to everyone who posted, i really appreciate the help and my problem is fixed. my computer is sittin nicely at 3Ghz, and im sure i could push it even further without a problem, but it idles around 38C and goes to 48C under full load so im gonna wait until i get an aftermarket cooler before i start really pushing it. though i must say im quite pleased, my old P4 with hyperthreading maxed out after a 290Mhz OC and now this has gone through a 600Mhz OC and has a long way to go before maxin out best $400 I ever spent. Thanx again. |

Glad it worked out for you to get past 300MHz FSB.
If you provide a link to the specific OCZ XTC DDR2-800 2GB you're using, I might be able to help with the timings.
Have you been posting benchmark results in our benchmark threads? I'd like to see how it's performing. |
