| voltage increase require when overclocking
Right now i have my E6600 Overclocked from 2.4Ghz to 2.7 Ghz with the FSB at 300Mhz. at this speed my pc-6400 ram stays at 800Mhz with the way my mobo's bios is configured, but i want to have my cpu to be left around 2.8Ghz-2.9Ghz in which case i need to increase the FSB to 312Mhz-324Mhz so and my ram frequence would be a lil less then 825-850 if im not mistaken. but my comp wont post. my stock voltage is 2.0V and my timming if im not mistaken is 5-5-5-12 i think, do you guys think it not posting is due to my memory, if so, what should i change, timings or mem voltage and to what? also my Cpu Voltage is at 1.3275, is that too low for the OC im attempting?

run your ram at 1:1 untill you either get up to at least 3.6
if for some reason you can't get that high thats when you start messing with your RAM speed
if your CPU is still running strong at 3.6 most 800mhz ram at stock should be good up to about 3.8 when your ram becomes unstable give it a little more voltage or a lower devider if you can

really, when u say 3.6 do u mean my proc at 3.6 Ghz??? that seems like a pretty large OC, i didnt think my mem could OC that much |

Yeah, going straight to 3.6 is not a good idea. Not only is that a high overclock for the RAM but also a high OC for the CPU in which case when you do have problems, it will be harder to nail down where the problem is.
What I generally do when I OC is make sure the ram does not run out of spec. I find the max speed for my CPU first. Once I find a good speed with acceptable temps and voltage, I then have my baseline OC speed. I then start messing around with lowering the multi, messing with dividers, and incraseing the FSB even further all the while not going abvoe whatever I found my max CPU oc to be. Once I hit a wall again then I know i've reached my memory's limit.

Can you post a screenshot of cpuz's cpu tab and memory tab? That can help see what divider your memory is using. Here's an example of my work pc. |

3.6 is not uncommon for a 6600...not saying you will nessacarily be able to get that high but with the multiplier of 9 that the 6600 has you get a 400mhz fsb so your ddr2 800 RAM shouldn't be limiting you untill you get atleast to that point |

well my bios allows to me to go up to 450 or 500 mhz im pretty sure but the NB wouldnt be able to handle the heat unless I got watercooling which i dont plan on doin anyway...thus making this post useless lol |
