| this proccessor is known for overheating...what should I do? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116230
I know it's fast proccessor but based on the reviews it has it gets hot very easily and the stock fan and heatsink are bad on it...I don't want it to burn out on me or anything...now I have a celeron d and I know those bottleneck a lot but they don't burn out on me but will this proccessor do anything of the sort?...
I don't overclock...I might like...play some games like CS,trickster, maplestory,CSS and run AIM and MSN and such at the same time but I don't play any super intensive games like halo or half life or anything...so what do you guys think? |

It should be fine if you put the HSF on correctly. If you do run into overheating, just buy a cheap aftermarket cooler.
Once a CPU hits a certain temp. it shuts down so that no damage is done. So dont worry.
Have you bought the PentiumD yet? Or planning too? |

I've ordered it already...well...right now...I am running on a celeron D and when I get my IntelD I am planning to do the exact same things as when I had my CeleronD except for maybe CSS but that's it...but even when I ran like a game and AIM and MSN at the same time my celeronD didn't shut down or anything...so will my IntelD be fine xD |

For less money, you could have gotten a dual core Pentium D 805 wich runs cooler, overclocks without any effort, uses less power, and outperforms your choice by a nice bit... (before any overclocking)
If it where me I'd return what you got and get the 805...
You will then save money by not having to worry about an aftermarket cooler, and have alot more headroom for performance |

You should be fine... if the mobo does not support it then thats as good as it gets on a budget.

Stop worrying about reviews you read.
If you do not overclock the CPU, and install the HSF correctly, it will not hit the threshold. And if it does, it will shut down! No damage will occur. You then post your problem here, and we will go from there.
No sense worrying over something that probaly will not occur. |
