dual core for gaming?

Right now i have a p4 3.0ghz (plan on oc'n) if im not gonna multi task, is it ok to have this for newer games coming out? i also have a gig of ram and soon to have a x1650pro in my agp slot. thanks

Yes, having 2 cpus is faster than having one, even when you use all single threaded applications, because 1 app can use 1 core, and then the other core can be used for the other background tasks.

The Netburst architecture is starting to show it's age, but it is still good enough for a while.

Your video card is more of a bottleneck than your CPU IMO.
