| ASUS+ AMD, dilemma, dont know if i should go ASUS+INTEL
Okay i just got and ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe, with an AMD ATHLON X2 4400+ Toledo (2.2ghz).
Now im starting to think that was a bad idea, to go with AMD should i sell both of these and get an lga775 mb to support intel core 2 duo.
help would be nice |

If you want to do it, go for it. Although, if I might add, a 4400+ compares to an e6300+ pretty well, so unless you are going to get an e6600 or even go quad core, I'd see it as a waste of money. |

i have a pretty similar setup, I wish i had a 4400 x2 tho (cant find skt939 anywhere, where'd you get yours?). Unless you are gonna be going alot of gaming and are gonna get something better than the e6300 then just stick with what you have, the board is nice and the processor isnt that bad, but if you want to be more futureproof I would consider C2D then

Intel is definatly the way to go right now... It kills me to say this because I am an AMD fan, but it's the truth. Intel will be dropping the quadcore to $266 on July 22nd... I know that's still over a month away, but that is a heck of a price for a quad core CPU that is known to be a pretty decent overclocker.

You got a Socket939 setup. Which is becoming outdated. It uses DDR.
First make sure that you are able to return it. It was an OEM CPU also, doesnt come with a heatsink fan.
The best two platforms are the AMD AM2, and the Intel Core 2 Duo(LGA775) which both use DDR2 memory.
Intel is proly the best route to take. They have Core 2 Duo processors starting at 90$. Tell us your budget and the purpose of this computer and we will try to advise you on some of the best options.
And, Welcome to TechIMo. |

for the long run i would definately suggest Intel and their lineup of processors either the Core 2's or their Quads... Im still on Skt939, but it is getting hard to find some stuff for it anymore. |

I always look to see what I can salvage from my old rig, e.g. Ram, PS, vid, etc. And, I look for deals in the Inbeteenie market when, it's cheap. That's why I've been running a 939 Opty 165 w/ a pair of mismatched DDR @ 2.9G, for the last year. I figure I'm good for another couple of years, till 4G starts looking more like the mean than a goal.

hey man you're not that lost in the hole.
I used a 4400 with 2 gigs of OCZ platinum. Personally iv used the c2d computers and mines really up to par with the 6300 easly. So unless you want alot of hasle theres no need really. But like some one stated before. 939 is about outdated now. It still some one holds it ground but like all hardware... it will all get old and poof.. never heard from again lol
I'm waiting for a drastic price drop in the Intels or wait for new AMD since i am a AMD fan myself. |
