Hmm....seems on kinda hot IMO for a Duron. My Athlon 1.33ghz runs right up in those temps.

What is the HS you are using now ?...
You surely need more air flow in your case ... at least one intake fan (front down) and one blow out fan (rear top) .. both of them to be 80mm fans ...

50~55C are high temps (but not dangerous) ... you can get down with the right HS and better case cooling IMO ...

Is you MoBo Asus by any chance?

    And welcome to TechIMO
    Regards

thanks for the feed back guys i've worked on pc's for a while first time to build one from scratch all the little things seem to be the most frustrating HS is a cooler master from memory i think its 7000 rpm i was going to put fan on rear top front down i had read can go against the flow of air although i would think cooling wise the more the better would it be ok to leave side of case off until fans are installed whats some dangerous temps i was going to set it to power down the Mobo is a Soltek SL-75Kav.

    thanks phil

I have a 1ghz Duron system too. My CPU temps are 38c at idle and 44c at full load. I only have one case fan at the back of the case blowing out.
Reality is controlled by those who are the most insane
